Well last 4 gms Kanter is 30/44 (68%), 14/16 FT (89%) .40 rebs,, {avg,18ppg /10rpg in 23 minutes} and yes it makes a difference when you always read how the fans in this forum are screaming about needing another big ,not liking Booker or Lyles play !

Yes, we do need another big. But not one who earns $16M and gives up nearly as many points as he scores. Even a blind squirrel finds an occasional acorn. Kanter will have some good games. But overall he still remains the worst defending big in the league and is a terrible value for his salary.

Even a blind squirrel finds an occasional acorn.

Well this blind squirrel (Kanter) is 4th in the NBA in finding the acorn (.576 %)
Also Kanter is #79 in (+/-) Gobert #80 and Favors #318
Kanter's PER is #6 behind #1Curry,#2Westbrook,#3Durant,#4Leonard,#5James
Kanter's TS% is #3 behind #1 Curry ,#2 Durant

Player Impact Estimator (PIE) for players who average 10 or more minutes:

1. Kanter
2. Leonard
3. Curry
4. James
5. Westbrook
6. Durant
7. Gasol
8. Paul
9. Harden
10. Davis

Next year the salary cap goes way up so who's to say Kanters going to be way overpaid.

Kanter hate here is dwindling down to just Utah fanz, whereas I'm pissed at the Utah front office for giving into a f**ken kids hissy fit.He still acts like an overgrown kid with OKC but he's producing and Utah is floundering.

There's a reason Kanter barely averages over 20 minutes a game. And it isn't because Billy Donovan's an idiot.

Because +/- is a flawed stat that relies on too many variables that have nothing to do with the individual player.

https://basketballvalue.com/teamplayers.php?year=2008-2009&team=OKC

According to +/-, in 2009 Kevin Durant was the 2nd worst player on the Thunder. As you would say - "explain".

But when you guys use it against Kanter its okay, PER is useless beacuse its shows Kanter is good,+/- useless when its favor Kanter, even if he become MVP someday, haters will find a stat that hes bad at and will keep on hating

I actually never used +/- against Kanter. I used RPM, because it's designed to eliminate the variables that aren't controlled by the player.

As far as PER goes, it shows what I already know - Kanter's an excellent offensive player, and crashes the boards very well. What you have to realize is the knock on Kanter - the reason RPM shows him as a net negative player, the reason the Jazz instantly and significantly improved upon trading him, and the reason Billy Donovan is only playing him 20 minutes a game - all has nothing to do with anything that PER would reflect. PER doesn't measure defense. It doesn't show that what Kanter gets on one end of the court is being completely offset by the negative impact he has on a team's defense.

#318 for Favors that's some serious flawed then....the point of the whole thing is Kanter is proving his point in his play by his stats being their with the best players in the League. You prove your point by playing good basketball. That points given up is pointless if your team is the top offense in the NBA when your playing and your outscoring the other teams with point differential comparable to the other top two teams in the League.

Um, repeating that Kanter has a good +/- isn't really a counter-argument to the point that +/- is a severely flawed statistic.

That doesn't apply to Kanter. As has now been stated multiple times in this thread, when correcting for quality of teammates and opponents, Kanter scores incredibly poorly in +/-. His teams are worse with him on the court.

You (Kds family) watched last year ,Burke and Hayward looked off Kanter many times in the offense ,they didn't like him.Durant and Westbrook are seeking him out on OKC ....WTF's with that..Burke and Hayward are shooting .425% in FG's,Think they can use a .576 % FG shooter to pass off to and create more space for themselves.

Is it just me, or does this have nothing to do with what we're talking about?

talk these stats down as loser stats ,meaningless stats.

High FG%, high TS%, and high PER. I believe I already did point out that Kanter is an excellent offensive player, and great at crashing the boards.

+/- has already been addressed. You can find my post on it on the previous page. GVC touched on it as well. Let me know if you have any further questions on the merits (or lack thereof) of +/-. I'll be happy to answer them.
