The Jazz drafting philosophy sucks

Omg. Are u being serious?!?! This is why all my posts directed at u are the same. Fact of the matter is we are rebuilding. Rebuilding is not just a 3-5 year process unless u get lucky by getting a LBJ or Curry type players, and there's a lot of luck involved in that. Secondly... No team is perfect when it comes to the draft. Like the Jazz every team has their hits and misses. Also, it's important to recognize that just about every time they take a risk in the draft it blows up in their faces. Let's also not forget that they have had their share of success in the draft.

Just a few of our good picks...

AK47. 24th pick

Millsap second round.

Deron Williams 3rd pick. (Some experts will say he was better then cp3 during his Jazz days and his teams had more success then cp3's teams did )

Hayward, yes we missed on George, but none the less Hayward was one of the better players selected in the draft and we are lucky to have him.

Burks. 12th pick. One of the better 6th men in the league. By the way who was considered one of the more risky picks? Kanter. How'd that work for the Jazz.

Hood. 23rd pick. A lot of teams passed on him. He's actually doing more then both Hayward and George did their first two years. Not saying he will be as good or better, but u never know. Just interesting to think about

I'm probably missing some names, but damn Hack who's opinion doesn't match with reality?

Aren't u glad I didn't have the same old tiresome take of you're an idiot?

By the way, you're still an idiot!!

That's great.

Now let's look through non Homer glasses.

2007 - Morris Almond over Aaron Afflalo. Fesenko over Mark Gasol

2008 - Kostas Koufos over a bunch of good players, Ibaka, DeAndre Jordan, George Hill, Nicolas Batum, Goran Dragic.

Ibaka and Jordan stand out the most here. We needed rim protection, and we chose Kosta Koufus, who by the way was getting the same praise Lyles is getting now.

2010 - Even though Gordon turned out good, it was still a mistake to take him over George. Hayward was mocked well after where George was sitting. It was reach for the choir boy.

2011 - Kanter over Knight was dumb. We didn't need another big. We needed a point guard, and Knight projected to be a better player. Kanter was an unathletic stiff.

Burks over Leonard was a disaster.

2012 - Didn't tank like we should have, and missed out on the GS pick and our own pick.

2013 - traded up to take the worst point guard out of all the top point guards. Also missed out on other players because of that bad trade. Taking Burke over McCollum was a joke.

2014 - Jazz half *** the tank and miss out on some better players. They take Exum who has proven nothing and is soft mentally. Scared to even make a layup. Gets hurt when he tries. That's yet to be determined, but it doesn't look good. Could have taken future Superstar Zach Lavine.

2015 - Lyles over a whole bunch of better prospects.

Jazz roster to date

Gobert, best asset. Great pick. But got lucky. Should have missed out when they traded both pick for Trey Burke

Hayward - great pick, but was still a mistake taking him over George.

Favors - traded for

Burks - sucks. Horrible pick taking him over Leonard

Hood - Good pick. Got lucky he slidl so far.

Lyles - sucks. Soft player

Exum - sucks. Soft player

Trey Burke - sucks

Neto - sucks, but a really late pick.

The rest not even worth mentioning or weren't drafted by us.

That's not evidence of good drafting.

You suck

Why?

Cause I'm not gonna cheer for everything the Jazz do no matter what?

How does that make you better than me? Isn't being honest with yourself and others the best way to go?
I don't cheer for everything the jazz do

People that this deeply disagree with their team really should consider taking a sabatical. The negativity is gonna destroy a person. If you have nothing to cheer for, what's the point of being a fan?

Their picks swing safe, yes, but it's also a difficult task to really say they've whiffed. Rather than naming all the names we all know, I will just leave it at that and question how anyone with intellectual honesty can cherry-pick might-a-beens in hindsight and be critical of it all.

But that's fans for ya. The FO does their job and we certainly do ours.

i can't believe we didn't trade all future firsts for 2008 Kevin Garnett. We totally blown it

That or find a team that does things the way they like.

I would rather draft "good guys" than idiots. Aside from less problems and potential cancers, good guys are - as a whole - going to remain more loyal and not bolt when their contract is up. Favors and Burks are examples of this.

The problem is the stigma Utah has - plenty of players don't want to play here. I feel like this is changing slowly - and when players see team chemistry and hear about how great Snyder, the front office, fans and teammates are it will change to some degree - especially if the Jazz are winning.

Not all players want to play for big-market teams because some don't want to be scrutinized and vilified. And with the salary cap going up I think we'll draw more talent because the Jazz are forced to spend more on contracts.

The Jazz have some good players - we're closer than some think - but they are going to have to shell out to get a legit scorer.

We're winning games this season with a roster that's falling apart. Think of our record is Corbin was still the coach.

I can't believe we didn't sign Kent Bazemore. We would be the best team right now.

Amarite guis?

what about if we had signed Bazemore, which then allowed us to trade Burks? What if we traded Burks + Lyles + future first to New York for Porz? Not impossible.

No. Not really.

I was booing the Lyles pick before, then and now. Same with most the other picks. I booed the crap out for Hayward. Wanted George. I booed the hell out of the Koufus pick. Wanted Jordan

This isn't hindsight. This is foresight.

Lyles will look like a bad pick when it's all said and done. He'll be a borderline starter. With zero star potential. It's true now, and will be true in ten years, and it was true before the draft.

Not really hard to see actually.

Yeah I mean this is kinda how thoroughly I disagreed with the Knicks and their FO/Personnel/Ownership many years ago.. I used to be in Knicks forums talking about trading the entire team for 2nd round picks/clearing the books and building from scratch.. Which got all sorts of negative responses..

These complaints kinda jump around in time, but their all from a few year span..

I was already a pariah of the forums for vehemently disagreeing with the Gallinari over Brook Lopez pick.. They used to tell me Brook can't guard the basket or grab rebounds, so I'd say draft Serge Ibaka in the 2nd round!!! (he was projected in the 40's and 50's for much of the process)

Isaiah Thomas also took Renaldo Balkman one pick before Rajon Rondo, and 20-something picks before Paul Millsap..

I was damn happy with the Wilson Chandler pick, I watched him in college and he just always looked like an NBA player. Spike Lee spoiled the pick on TV, That was a good draft.

I didn't like the Channing Frye pick at-all, even though I was like 17, I used to pay attention to this stuff then, and I was rather convinced Gerald Green would be a damn good NBA wing player. Nate Robinson and David Lee were good picks for them that year, but they shipped them out:mad:!!

Jordan Hill over DeRozan(Or Brandon Jennings, when they still didn't have a PG).. that was heinous.. the Knicks are so ****ing stupid, If they listened to me when I was like 19, they'd have been sooooo much better off than what they did... I knew there was no way Hill would be better than one of my favorite college basketball players of all time, Jeff Teague.. I was damn high on Ty Lawson too, those Knicks squads would've been so much better off with him running the show.. I was furious

They signed Amare Stoudemire, I was in the minority of Knicks fans - Saying I though Chris Bosh was better...

And the last straw was signing Tyson Chandler, which was lauded here in NY, despite the fact that it crippled any chance the Knicks had at signing a decent guard, because 90% of the Cap was Melo, Amare and Chandler..

The struggles of the Jazz pale in comparison, and their certiainly not nearly as bad. So to see some thread like this, on some chicken little ****, is quite amusing to someone like me.

I'd totally suggest finding a new team though, probably in the other conference.. being a Knicks fan was starting to wear on my love for the game, so I know I made the right choice to jump ship. The Knicks just operate in a deplorable way too, the Jazz are predictable, but not in a bad way, I certainly wouldn't count on them reversing course at this point, things are falling in place..

I've missed a bunch of Jazzfanzery lately, but I've gotta chime in and add that I was totally vouching for Bazemore in the offseason.

I predicted Millsap was dead-weight, a waste of salary/minutes, and possibly a minor agent to the tank... Bazemore costs less than Ingles too...

Lol

Are ****ing serious right now?

Why do you think your preposterous trade scenarios are good just because you slap a "not impossible" lable on them?

I actually like Bazemore and would have been for the signing. I'm just doing what NAOS does with every single player. If its not his idea, hes gonna try to mock it, because he's a giant douche bag who's incapable of having a normal conversation. He brings it on himself.

The Jazz aren't the worst team when it comes to management. Certainly there are worse teams like the Nets and Kings, but the Jazz certainty arent great either. They are middle of the pack. Which can be pretty frustrating too. It would be nice to be one of the top teams.

Bazemore wasn't a FA this past off-season, unless you are talking about some sort of trade. What do you think the Hawks would have asked for him?

This is a dumb thread. We don't nail every pick... We do make risky picks... We have hit on some late first rounders. The draft isn't a total crap shoot but it is hard. For every Greek freak there are 10 biyombos. For every Rodney hood there are 10 pj hairstons... Look we haven't been perfect but as far as drafting we've done really good.

In FA we have sucked doe.
