George Hill coming to Utah

Mack had basically the same numbers playing mostly PG. You do realize you're comparing his numbers against a guy who plays both guard spots and even a little 3 in a small lineup? Mack defended one position, Hill can defend 3. Your comparison sucks.
But we don't need Hill as an off guard. Hood, Burks and even Hayward can play there. Will Utah compete for a championship next season? If not, DL threw away a lottery pick for a one-and-done player. Far better to get a player on a rookie salary who has a CHANCE to develop and stay in Utah...and who would come much cheaper. DL just ate up valuable cap space, which may prevent him for going after any other significant FA.

Genius move by Lindsey. He gets nothing for Enes and now gives away s lotto pick for one year of an aging PG? These types of players generally cost just a 2nd at the deadline.
But wait, now EVERY team will want to deal with the Jazz, thinking they too can snooker Dennis the non-menace.
Seriously, a lotto pick for a guy who likely won't be here after another season. As many have said, Mack had nearly the same numbers. He was already on the team and Jazz could take a chance at a good, young player who would cost $2M.
Stifle makes a good point. Haven't we seen many trades recently for good players on short contracts going for 2nd rounders and other garbage?

Idk if that's a referendum against him or he thinks I'm that ****ing stupid.
He thinks most of us are stupid from what I gather. Don't worry about it

My God, the idiots are out in force.
Yep. Anyone who sees this as a step in developing the Jazz into a contender is an idiot. It makes the team better next season while burning a decent asset. Jazz make the playoffs as a 5-8 seed. Then what? Hill leaves and we see the 2016 draft/FA class contributed nothing to the mid or long term success of the team.

If the jazz would have traded for teague and you came to this thread saying that the jazz should have got hill instead them I'm pretty sure that everyone would be arguing with you that teague is the better fit, better player, etc.

I don't think so. The consensus on other NBA forums, as well as other sports writers who have written about the trade (through The Ringer, Bleacher Report, ESPN, etc...) is that the Jazz won the trade, and that Hill is a perfect fit.

Plus, there probably wouldn't be a "Teague's agent says he wants to stay in Utah long-term" component to post about either.

Yeah, the 12th pick was really the difference between us getting a championship or being a treadmill team. If we can get the 5th seed, which is what Kevin Pelton thinks we are, then that is a great step for this team. We can easily re-sign Hill and return our whole team (who will still be very young and still improving). I like that scenario. That is what you go for. It's time to push the chips in. If you arent going to enjoy the ride, GTFO.

You should read all of the quotes from George Hill's agent. This isn't a one-year rental.

Here's Lindsey's track record as a GM, making trades, along with my grades

2/10 June 27, 2013: Traded Gorgui Dieng and Shabazz Muhammad to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Trey Burke.

10/10 June 27, 2013: Traded Erick Green and cash to the Denver Nuggets for Rudy Gobert.

8/10 June 27, 2013: Traded a 2015 2nd round draft pick (can't find who) to the Atlanta Hawks for Raul Neto.

10/10 July 10, 2013: As part of a 3-team trade, the Utah Jazz traded Kevin Murphy to the Golden State Warriors; the Utah Jazz traded Randy Foye to the Denver Nuggets; the Denver Nuggets traded cash and a 2018 2nd round draft pick to the Utah Jazz; and the Golden State Warriors traded Andris Biedrins, Richard Jefferson, Brandon Rush, a 2014 1st round draft pick (Rodney Hood), a 2016 2nd round draft pick, a 2017 1st round draft pick and a 2017 2nd round draft pick to the Utah Jazz.

Null June 26, 2014: Traded Jarnell Stokes to the Memphis Grizzlies for a 2016 2nd round draft pick.

Null July 10, 2014: Traded Diante Garrett to the Toronto Raptors for Steven Novak and a 2017 2nd round draft pick.

Null July 22, 2014: Traded John Lucas III, Erik Murphy and Malcolm Thomas to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Carrick Felix, cash and a 2015 2nd round draft pick (Dani Diez).

3/10 (Could go up depending on next year's Thunder pick) February 19, 2015: As part of a 3-team trade, the Utah Jazz traded Enes Kanter and Steve Novak to the Oklahoma City Thunder; the Detroit Pistons traded a 2017 2nd round draft pick to the Utah Jazz; and the Oklahoma City Thunder traded Grant Jerrett, Kendrick Perkins, Tibor Pleiss and a 2017 1st round draft pick to the Utah Jazz. (UTA 1st round pick received from OKC is protected.)

Null June 25, 2015: Traded Daniel Diez to the Portland Trail Blazers for cash considerations.

9/10 February 18, 2016: As part of a 3-team trade, the Utah Jazz traded a 2018 2nd round draft pick to the Chicago Bulls; the Atlanta Hawks traded Shelvin Mack to the Utah Jazz;

7/10 June 22, 2016: As part of a 3-team trade, the Utah Jazz traded a 2016 first round draft pick to the Atlanta Hawks; the Indiana Pacers traded George Hill to the Utah Jazz.

Overall, on my odd grading metric, I give him an average of a (2,10,8,10,3,9,7)/7, 7/10 overall grade, so no, DL is not bad at making deals

I wish you the best with your 5 to 10 page battle with Stifle on this topic.

Ok but he might also stay. Just saying.

While I like that and how quickly the response was, you have to think that might just be agent talk and not sincere. But who knows, I hope it's entirely true and Hill was talking to his agent about coming to Utah even before the deal happened.

Nah, it's you and the other ****-fer-brains that are have no clue. Like lopo and punkphlembottombum.

Good trade for Utah. #12 in this year's draft will be doing jack **** for the Hawks.

Woohoo!

The Hawks looked like they might have been on to something last year and moving ahead of us, but now it seems like they're blowing it up again.. LOL

Kinda feel for them.

.....people on this board would take Hayward over Lillard? (From a few pages back....)

I don't understand some people. All season long we've been wanting an experienced vet, and now we have one. But then people get all angry because that's not good enough? Dang. We should just go back to Burke, because that's definitely the answer.

Stifle you are such a negative Nellie. Weren't you one of the people venting that they hadn't splashed some money out to get a vet to help last year ?
