Dennis Lindsey: We will be VERY active in free agency

He also mentioned he doesn't think George Hill will be renegotiated, which makes me really sad.

So... Solomon Hill for 12-13 Mill per? Anyone excited about that?

He went on to say that was not him saying that Hill wont be a jazzman next year. Just that he wants to be a free agent in 2017. Financial decision.

The Utah Jazz have expressed interest in acquiring Indiana forward Solomon Hill once the free agency period opens on Friday at midnight, The Salt Lake Tribune has learned.

1 hour ago – via Salt Lake Tribune

Multiple league sources say the interest is mutual between the Hill and the Jazz. But that doesn’t mean there wouldn’t be obstacles for Utah in its potential pursuit. The market for Hill is “fertile,” according to one source, because he is young and can play three positions — power forward, small forward and shooting guard — and that a number of teams plan to chase him once July 1 hits.

Also, Hill won’t come cheap. The Tribune has learned that the former Arizona star is seeking anywhere between $9 and $13 million a year, and there are multiple teams willing to meet that number. The money isn’t much of a hurdle for the Jazz, though, as they are far under the salary cap floor.

If Solomon Hill gets 9- 13 million a year I might just stop watching the NBA. Yea I know there is crazy money available but that is just CRAZY!!!

I think I was the first to float the idea of Solomon Hill.... and I hate him at that price.

Solomon Hill hit 8 jump shots before the All-Star break. Not per game, not from the arc. Eight jumpers from anywhere, total- Miller Time

FWIW, the average Jazz possession is worth significantly more (1.03) than a possession used on an open/wide open Solomon Hill 3FGA (.93)- Dan Clayton

Wow, this is true. 13 of Hill's 24 makes from 3 last year came in 3 of their final 5 games. Don't trust it AT ALL. - Ben Dowsett

Source tells me Jazz have scouted Solomon Hill "heavily" for a long time and he'd be the preference over Luol Deng.

Yeah still makes me sad because I'd rather use our current space and have him on a shorter deal. He likely wants more years and a 3 or 4 year deal for him scares me a bit. I think he is eligible for the extension first too... Favs can't do it until like September.

He will get it...

Just wait until this place melts with Marvin Williams gets $15+ M per year.

Guys the money coming in is unprecedented to come in all at once. The FA crop is really shallow. Add it all up and there will be some incredibly bad decisions.

Negged for giving DL the idea.

We will see what happens, but the difference between Ingles and Hill is not that big. If somehow Hill comes in a $9M for 3 years or 11-12 for 2 years then maybe he's an asset. I'd probably be okay with it if George Hill isn't willing to extend his deal. It still is terrible value for what we could have added last year.

FWIW 9-13 M this year is essentially worth 5.7-8.3 M in '13-14 and 9-13 M next year is essentially worth 5.1-7.4 M in '13-14. Not as big a contract as some people are suggesting

In a vacuum yes... when you consider the expenses coming next year it likely means one of AB, Hill, or Favs won't be returning.

I'm just not convinced on him... he was good the last 30 games of the year and the playoffs. Before that Bird didn't feel like he was worth one year $2M... not that he is perfect.

So here is the new plan...

We move Mack to NO for Pondexter - They do it because they need cheap rotation players and have too many question marks health wise. We do it because if Pondexter is healthy he's basically the perfect fit for what we need. Combo forward who can also be a 3 and D wing on a smaller contract. If he isn't healthy we play Ingles.

Move Burke to whatever team doesn't get a pg in FA. Get a second or just get him off the books... I don't care that much.

Cut Johnson and sign a couple second round types or undrafted guys with decent potential. Give them the super long Neto 4 year unguaranteed deal.

Use $22M in cap space to renegotiate Favs and Hill. Giving Hill a deal that looks like $19M, $11M, $11M. I think he'd get close to $15M-$18M per year next year so this essentially gives him that.

Favs new deal would look like $22, $23, $17.5, $18.5.

Gets us to the floor... gives our rotation some more upside and diversity. Increases the value of both Favs and Hill if one needs to be moved later. Allows us to comfortably bring back all the main players the next year.
I love it

Go read the tea leaves... Prices are going to be crazy the next two years. Hill at 11&11 will be a huge value. Lin will get more than that and Hill is >>>>> Lin.
This.
And favors..... Don't even get me started.

Hint: he might be getting da max if we don't try to extend him early for something like you suggested.

An hour ago Tony jones tweeted a SLTRIB article saying that the Jazz have interest in free agent Solomon Hill.
He better be hella cheap yo

Definitely. I'm not saying anything about how much I like him or think he's worth, just putting the numbers in perspective since people don't seem to understand the conversion.

Is Shonn Miller any good. What's his style of play?

I don't disagree but people making these decisions are suppose to be smarter than this. Just because you have money doesn't mean you have to spend it. Just for the record, not a fan of Solomon Hill. If this is the FAs we are going after then I rather pass and just go with the young guys another year.

The Jazz already have a full roster so just play Ingles in spot minutes the rest of the SGs/SFs can fill in Hill and Exum can play the 2 so Hood, Hayward and Burks can play the SF. Heck let Quincy Ford play 6 minutes at SF.

Solomon HIll will make more than the reigning two-time MVP of the league. Yup ****ing crazy.
