What's new

Dennis Lindsey: We will be VERY active in free agency

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I would give a huge 2 year deal to Wade. This is for 2 reasons:

1) it puts us in as contenders

2) next free agency go around, people will realize that we're legit, and other stars will consider us.

I know it's unlikely, but worth a shot.

The numbers are crazy, but they could be bargains compared to next year when the cap spikes even more.

Just look at Mozgov's deal. He will average around $13 per which is a ton, max deals next year will be $30+. So if he's your starting C, you're not spending that much of your cap on him. Drummond is getting twice what Mozgov is. Surrounded by the right guys, he's not awful. Hustle, rebounding, some rim protecting.

Jeff Green can not shoot okay and was God awful last year.

I always think he's 25 brimming with potential... Then I find out he's like 40 and has seemingly sucked more every year

Thanks to everyone for providing info.
I don't have twitter, instagram, snapchap, tinder or any other social media and don't even know what most of that stuff is lol.

So thanks

Glad you appreciate... My wife caught me on tinder late last night and I was all... "I'm just looking at FA rumors for Fish" she didn't buy it.

Next year will also have a LOT more star power on the open market. Let them all waste it this year. Durant, DeRozan, Batum or Gasol. Then look at value guys and wait until next year.

Only if Hayward gets to ride the banana boat

I agree. This salary floor thing is why they are spending. If you get a starter for $13, you could be making worse deals. Every team wants or needs a Tristan Thompson or Mozgov or Biyombo or Booker or similar type hustle big guy

Per Marc Spears. Jazz are expressing interest in Moe Harkless. He's a restricted free agent for the Blazers.

And the next year too. People need to just do simple math. 13 Mill this year is equal to 8.3 on the 60 Mill cap. 13 next year is 7.6 on the 60 Mill cap and the year after is equal to about 6.8 Mill on the old cap (if cap were to go 94/105/115)

I'd like this signing. I think he'd be a little better than Ingles and would be good insurance if Hayward went down. We could probably get him if Portland signs Parsons, too

We need to go ahead and lock in Favors on some extended deal now. I don't want to max him in 2 years.

They are spending because everyone has cap space and needs. Supply and Demand.

It is easy to get to the floor and no one is spending now to get up to the floor. If you don't get to the floor right now, you have latitude later to take on a bad contract at zero cost and pick up draft picks, and release the guy. And if you still don't get to the floor, your players get the money.

Locke strongly implied that there was a difference in perspective on market value with Favors and Hill and to not expect the restructuring. He said this indirectly but like he had some knowledge of the situation.

My main point was that $13 for a starter is not that bad. And the Lakers are still $40+ under the floor. Wasn't there $1 billion under the floor to start free agency? Half the league will probably fall under it.
