I only got to watch the last 4 minutes...

I saw Tibor get switched onto Buddy Hield on the perimeter, and Tibor did a nice job staying with him. Of course Buddy was trying to get a 3-pt shot off, and had no interest in driving, but Tibor prevented him getting an easy shot off.

Also, nice to see Tibor pushing and jawing after the game, I thought he was soft and was looking something more from him.
 
Bolomboy finally put a better game together. Btw the offense flows a lot better when everyone tries to make plays instead of just giving Lyles the ball.
 
Isn't it a bit funny how the Jazz squad do finally win a game when Lyles doesn't play? After watching Lyles play again, he's offense is pretty good however that defense of his sucks. It seems he doesn't really try sometimes and is pretty much more focused on scoring the ball.

Not sure who CJ beats out to make the Day 1 roster. Do they cut a PG or Pleiss or Withey?

I'm guessing they cut Chris Johnson after training camp. The pg's stay because their contracts are guaranteed and the way they both (Mack and Neto) played shows they have value going forward. Withey will be the final cut unless Pleiss or someone else is traded. That gets them to 14 so they can keep a roster spot open for a development/10 day contract type if Bolomboy doesn't fit what they want and isn't kept.
 
Some thoughts on Pleiss from me...

He's one of the weirdest players to evaluate for me. He looks like he should be an NBA player, for his size he moves like an NBA player, he seems smart enough to be an NBA player. He has a workable jumpshot, gives effort on D and overall makes good rotations... and with all that said... in every single aspect of the game he seems to just miss the mark. I feel like he's extremely close to being a useful player and yet every time I see him play he does just enough to keep me intrigued and just not enough to say - yah, we should keep him.
 
I don't understand how people think the Jazz will keep Pleiss instead of Withey, who is by far the better player. I think it was obvious that was what the Jazz thought too when they sent Pleiss to the D-League and Withey made the team. Why do people keep forgetting how well Withey played when Rudy was injured?

Maybe his play will improve if the talent around him improves.


I dunno when I see him I just think that if the Spurs got their hands on him he'd start crushing it cuz #Spurs. I don't wanna kick him to the curb-- how many true seven footers who can drop threes & be put in for free throws?

The only reason that I think they would keep Pleiss over Withey is that Pleiss has a contract guaranteed for 3 million this year while Withey has a non guaranteed contract that can be cut without losing money. Withey is clearly the better player at this point.
 
You gotta keep Withey over Pleiss. Neither are getting cut-- one might get traded

A whole 1 million in savings, not remotely a factor.

I see them asking Bolomboy to play in a non-US league like they did with Hanlan. The PGs can play on the Stars. Withey will stick. If Jazz eventually need a roster spot, they can make a move then. Since they're below the floor, paying the rest of a guaranteed deal if they cut him would not matter.

Jazz have 15 guaranteed contracts with Chris Johnson non-guaranteed. Why even have a training camp? Just start the season.
