Did Melanie Trump copy Michelle Obama's speech?

So... this is the cause of that "copied speech"...

Mystery solved.

My first impulse: Good for her. I'm sure she's been miserable about all this. Glad she kept her job.

My second impulse: Wonder how much she was paid to be the fall guy?

So far my humanitarian side is slightly ahead of my cynical side. I hope it stays that way.

I was going to rep this, but then you added your second impulse. Are you saying that you think Trump actually wrote the speech or something? Who do you think she would be protecting with this fall? I think it's much, much more likely that your first impulse was correct. I'll bet she's been absolutely ill about it.

Satisfied?

Seems like those speeches are using words of famous past historical speeches (mlk) and constitutional ideas that all of us already know and recognize that are used by many many people.

Seemed like michelles was more original and melanie simply copied it word for word.

I hope you're drunk today or something.

No, my cynical side shows up for everything. Did someone more prominent in his campaign write it (or did his wife as she claimed) but they assigned the blame to fall to a lower level employee? Stuff like that.

Honestly, I don't care about this issue, but I ultimately do not trust politicians and get cynical about it all. I like to question all sides to see what I believe. The point was that my first impulse was first, and I'm pleased about it.

fishonjazz I am not at a computer where I can link said videos from youtube. But this is the name of one of the main people Pres. Obama has taken inspiration and often direct quotes from.

Just like Melania did to Michelle.

My whole point is that it was rightfully not an issue then. It is a made up issue by the media and left because it is election season. Yes it is being talked everywhere about but let us not be fooled into another distraction.

I'll start. Last post on the topic.

This is pure comedy and I'm loving every second of it. My boss refers to the political process as WWE, it's all an entertainment show for the masses who believe a bunch of made up ******** and need drama.

This Trump fiasco is by far the most satisfying to me, mainly since America created Trump with all their anti-Washington rhetoric. Guess what folks: you got what you deserve.

Oh no. She graduated from the U of U with honors.

I think it's cool what Trump said to her when she turned in her resignation, though, and I also think it's cool that the Trump campaign did not out her. Obviously they knew from the moment this happened who was responsible yet they chose not to throw her under the bus.

I think that could be a PR stunt on Trump's part though... it's so hard to tell these things.

Obama admitted to copying that speech.

I don't think the act itself was that big a deal. I did think it was hilarious that the words copied were those of Mrs. Obama. And I think the bigger deal was how it reflected on Trump's campaign since there are programs that can be used to scan a speech and catch these things, and the Trump campaign didn't even do that much. Also, I don't think it was a question of the Trump team not wishing to throw somebody under the bus. They did what Trump himself does whenever he's told he said this or that. He just denies what he actually said. Time and again he himself just lapses into "no, I didn't say that" mode. And that's what his campaign did. The campaign manager came right out and said it was not plagiarism at all. Christie offered the bizarre rationalization that her speech was only 7% copied. Huh?! Can't even get their act together after the fact. By no means tell the truth and own the mistake, however. Do as Trump does and deny the obvious. Remarkably, that very tactic often works for Trump himself since his supporters could not care less how much Trump lies.

Then, 24 hours later, while it's dying a natural death, the Trump people revive the issue all over again by finally admitting the truth. In several ways, the entire incident shows just how stupid the Trump team really is. Very stupid.

LOL .. that's hilarious.

He admitted it after he got caught. Is that the sort of intentional that you mean?
When I was watching it seemed intentional. Before I ever heard that he admitted it. Good on him for admitting it at least. I guess he could have lied about it and blamed one his staffers and thrown then under the bus.

It's Impossible that a poster of your caliber (I know who your main is) does not realize Trump did this on purpose.

You claim he says junk and then refutes what he says. It's purposeful. He's the type that believes any press is good press and he is doing a damn fine job creating it and then creating 10x more by explaining away what he actually meant while the liberal media is attacking him relentlessly and unfairly. That tactic is so damn obvious.

+1

In many MANY ways Trump has convinced me he's not very intelligent, even if he has a bit of a gift for persuasion.

Being serious.
If any of us sat through major business deals we would leave with a true respect for his business acumen.

Now, the fact he has said so many things that have hurt his long term value for the sake of short term gain makes me question his political sense. Greatly.

But you guys (all of you) that truly think he is some mouth-breather... Well, I'll be nice and say nothing.

You should thank me for helping you take your accusation for a walk today. I'm impressed by its agility.
