Official NJ Nets Watch

Btw, they lost to the wizards in a nail bitter. Though I am sure you knew this, but figured should refresh you memory as you seem to hold nj in higher esteem than they deserve.

Not gonna happen. NJ has a much easier schedule. In fact, they should catch Detroit AND have an outside shot at the Clippers.

1. New Jersey has 8 very winnable games left (Indiana, @Cleveland, Houston, Minnesota, @Detroit, New York, @Toronto, Charlotte).
2. Toronto: Only 5 games that are reasonably winnable: @Clippers, Bucks, Cavs, Nets, @Bucks.
3. LA Clippers have a brutal schedule to finish, similar to the Jazz. I only see two more games where the Clippers will be favorites to win (vs. Washington and Toronto). Maybe add the last game vs. Memphis if the Grizzlies have already clinched the #8 seed.

Jazz will most likely get the #7 pick, perhaps even #8 if the Nets get hot again.

I don't see NJ beating Houston, NY, Indiana or Charlotte, I wouldn't say they're favorites. D.Will is out a few games too.

yee of little faith. Did you think Toronto was going to beat OKC? Cant wait for the epic Toronto-New Jersey game.

I can easily see Toronto and Jersey ending the season with the same record. Again, I'm kicking Toronto for getting swept in London.

But looking at the schedule I can easily see them being neck and neck for 5th/6th.

Someone said on the radio that New Jersey was thinking about shutting down D-Will for the year.
Anyone else hear this.
Is this true?

They have shut him down for 3 games, and I imagine they eventually will shut him down. They have no shot at the playoffs, it is stupid for them to risk his wrist.

NJ loses! Yes!

Hey, Clint, Jazz don't have to draft Jimmer with the 5th pick or 8 or 10. They can get him with the 12th pick.

Guys. We need NJ to win, win, win! How are we going to justify taking Jimmer in the top 5? Jazz fall to the 8-10 range and sweet lil' Jimmer is ours FOREVER!

They had no problem justifying Hayward at 9 :)
So trust me KOC could justify Jimmer at 6 it with his nation leading scoring, Pete Marovich touch, and deep NCAA tournament run without their second best player.

Great comeback win by Indiana, but Sundiata almost brought NJ back at the end. It was nice to see Yata have a good game.

New Jersey will probably catch Detroit, but every winnable game they lose makes it more likely the Clippers and Charlotte can stay in front.

By "winnable" I mean home games against teams fairly close to a team in the standings or road games against lesser opponents. For example, Utah at home against New Orleans or @ Sacramento are "winnable" games. Utah at the Lakers or at home against San Antonio are likely losses, so I wouldn't count those as "winnable."

Obviously there will be upsets and I don't expect NJ to win all those games. But by comparison, they have a much easier schedule than Toronto, Detroit or the Clippers. I'm hoping Detroit stays in front of NJ - it could come down to their game on April 6th. Unfortunately, what we saw last year with NY is that the lottery teams just gave up - except for New York, where there was no incentive to lose. Just gotta hope Deron's wrist doesn't improve to the point that he comes back, starts hitting shots and New Jersey reels off 7-8 wins.

It's hard to know if the Nets will jump ahead of anyone, but now I don't feel so bad the Jazz lost to Detroit a few weeks ago.

DET "winnable" games: CLE, IND, IND, WAS, NJ, MIL, CHA, CLE, PHI (9 possible wins, but one of these is against the nets)

NJ "winnable" games: CLE, PHI, MIN, DET, TOR, CHA -- I guess I could include the Knicks in here and they play them twice. But I still don't see NJ beating the knicks.
(if I include both knicks games this makes it 8 possible wins but like I said one of these is against Detroit)

And Detroit has a 2.5 game lead already. Things are more optimistic than they might appear. It's probably all the losing the Jazz are doing - it's clouding people's vision. I think the nets could easily end up with the 5 worst record.

I'd list Houston and New York as "winnable" home games since their records are similar to Philadelphia (and NY has been horrible of late). But you're right, after NJ losing two "winnable" games to Washington and Indiana (actually 3 going back to the game at Milwaukee), they now have about as many opportunities left as Detroit. My judgment had been a bit clouded by the turmoil in Detroit and NJ winning 5 in a row (even though 2 were against Toronto).

Also, the interwebs does not revolve around you bro. Get over yourself.

I can't give you any rep right now, and have another post in line anyway, so you'll have to settle for a Franklin Sitation this time.

Umm, and knowing your skunky music tastes, I'm sure you'll love this song.
