2011 draft.....

Perry Jones at 6 is not bad guys. If he falls we need to grab him. At 6 there are still very quality players. I still want to see Sullingers fortitude on this decision. He is an idiot for not declaring.

Who is John Henson? An ESPN guy said he is the surest bet for perennial All-Star. The second coming of Marcus Camby.

"the player with the best chance to be a perennial All-Star is John "The Muppet" Henson. He has the same tools/ridiculous upside as Anthony Randolph. Marcus Camby 2.0, if you will."

Henson does totally remind me of Camby. His blocked shots and rebounding (even moreso) numbers are very solid, especially consdiering he plays next to a legit 7 footer who's no slouch.

In fact, I really like Zeller as well should he declare. Not in the first but if we traded down.

I don't know about the all star stuff, but Henson is guaranteed to make it in the league. He's absolutely death on drivers. I would be more than happy if he was our pick. Insanely long with insaner athleticism. The dream is he turns into Noah. He'll probably fall short of that.

I am not a Henson fan. He is too skinny and he reminds me too much of Brandan Wright and Anthony Randolph.

I'd love a foursome of Jefferson, Millsap, Favors and Henson (with our second 1st) up front and a 1-3 of Harris, Barnes, Hayward, Evans, Watson and anyone else not named Bell, Miles or AK elsewhere.

In this draft, I would be fine with Henson at 6. It's too high for him. But bust potential is very low and he gives us a genuine defensive presence in the middle. He should also be able to contribute right away because his stock in trade is defense. Normally I would look for higher ceilings at 6, but not with this crop.

He can also engage in eating contests with Evans. They can also wax nostalgic about being compared to stretch Armstrong dolls.

He didn't gain any strength from his freshman season to his sophomore season. He is going to stay very thin. I don't like him until must later in the draft.

He's far longer than Noah. We'll have to see measurements but he looks like a slightly bigger Jeremy Evans with a 7'6" wingspan. I am against drafting him though, he will never get to center weight, he is 210 at best now. He is older than Favors and has less offense than him. He also is looking like a lifetime 50% free throw shooter, which just kills you.

Are there really people here worrying about gaining weight? That's the absolute best problem to have. Almost every single player who comes into the league gains weight as long as they're bigger than 6'6. Henson definitely has a ways to go physically. But he's not some Sene. He can play.

For any other team in the league maybe... but we all wanted AK to bulk up and it never happened...

From David Thorpe's chat today:

Marc (Malden, MA)

If you have the #1 pick, who are you taking?

I'd consider Irving, Knight, Williams, or Barnes, depending on my needs. All have similar upsides.

Knight has climbed into the #1 discussion and I do hope the Jazz takes him if the other 3 are gone.

Some people have the frame to put on weight and some people don't. Henson has one of those naturally skinny frames that he just can't seem to put much weight on, I don't think he'll ever be strong enough to effectively play the frontcourt well.

The thing that concern's me is that Knight doesn't get anything easy. He has to make contested jumpers and tough floaters. Kudos to him for making those tough shots, but it makes me wonder why can't he create a better opportunity.

We all know we're below .500. More interesting though is that we're 21-34 in our last 55 games. With two out of the next three vs. the Lakers, that's what I call a freefall.
