Exum having no place in the rotation and Jazz making playoff push

Stuck in a system where he has to shoot 3 pters and can't make them. Exum has taken 83 (3pter's) out of 185 shots for a whopping 45% of his shots this year This from a kid with a lightening 1st step. We've seen Snyder scold Exum and put him on DNP's for "looking" for his shot instead of taking the wide open 3's .Creativity stifled.

Compare this to other young PG's with lightening 1st steps. Elfrid Payton has taken 114 (3pter's) out of 576 shots for only 20 % of his shots.
Emmanual Mudiay has taken 155 (3 pters) out of 470 shots for 30%.
Denis Schoeder has taken 175 (3 pter's) out of 727 shots for 24%

These other young PG's get to play to their strengths.Exum with just as electric of a 1st step as Payton,Mudiay, and Schroeder doesn't .Shoot 3's or sit for Exum.

With the trade deadline approaching WHY wouldn't Exum be eyeballing these teams that could use a young PG .A fresh start as his body gets truly over the ACL.A fresh start than all the yanking around he gets from Coach Snyder .You can visibly see he wants to go at the other young players who ARE playing opposite him, theirs no look of fear there.
It was said Snyder is a great coach of young talent ,but have we seen it .I think Snyder's great coaching is more a product of Rudy Gobert ending up in Utah.Gobert looks like he'd make any NBA head coach look "Great".

So why wouldn't Exum look at Brooklyn,Philadelphia,Chicago,Milwaukee,Sacramento,Dallas ,New Orleans,or Denver as a potential spot where he can play. It's obvious that Snyder has hooked up his playoff hopes on the backs of older players .

Just wonder if Exum says anything before the trade deadline as he saw how Kanter got out of his situation in Utah.

Exum is a nice kid. Kanter is an idiot.

While I'd like to see Exum get some minutes, I think the Jazz view Exum as a project. I would like to see Burks play more SG so Exum can get some minutes.

We've seen what he can do and have glimpses of him being really good (summer league). I truly don't believe he's as bad as he plays sometimes and would like to see him get a shot as a starter with free range to play his game.

Now isn't the time for that of course as we are in the middle of a playoff push and have the potential to win 50+ games.

dude, if it's still the same situation this time next year mabye. But the first thing he should be doing is getting up to speed physically which going by other athletes with ACLs prob won't be till late this season or more likely next season. There's every chance next year he'll be the primary backup and get a load more minutes/look a lot better. He shouldn't get ahead of himself however frustrated he might be.

Wrong.

His rookie year, he only took 12.5% of his shots from withing 3 feet of the basket, and 63.5% of his shots were 3s. This season, he's taking 42% of his shots at the rim, and *reduced* his proportion of 3s to 45%. Unfortunately, his shooting percentage from both distances have dropped - although his shooting from everywhere else has actually improved, and his overall shooting percentage is also up.

His creativity is definitely not being stifled, he is taking it to the basket more than he used to, for better or worse. His DNPs initially came from defensive issues, not his lack of offence.

And if his 3-point percentage had gone up 4 percent instead of down, then it wouldn't really matter how many he took. The "can't make them" is on him.

raw

Did we really need another thread to discuss this?

No lets stick our head in the ground ........I brought up Exum shooting 45% of ALL his shots from 3 pt territory whereas 3 other young PG's of similar age shooting only 25% of their shots from 3 pt land.IF you watch the games you know Exum isn't going to be successful shooting half his shots from 3. Again why would he want to lose money playing behind GHill for 3 or 4 yrs if Hill is signed and he has to sacrifice his explosive 1st step to stand around at the 3 pt line shooting 3's he can't make.

This next stretch of games will be a good chance for him to get some minutes and show that he can contribute. If he's going to be as good as we all hoped, or even close to that then he's going to have to figure out a way to force his way on the floor. I think if he came out with great defensive intensity, and aggressively pushed the ball Quin would like it.

Now watch Mack get the backup minutes next game haha.

Right now, Dante is not as good as those three. Did you see the game where he was matched up with Payton? Dante is not ready and part of that has to do with his injury. Maybe next year. Time will tell.

Dante's been the worst defensive backup PG, and it's not really that close.

I knew putting a Exum post was going to be close to 2/3 anti Exum to 1/3 still believe he can and will help the Jazz .But this is kinda of my point, with the trade deadline coming up fast Exum has to look out for himself 1st financially. If he's continuously in Snyders doghouse and everyone wants GHill to be signed for 3/4 yrs what's his incentive to want to play in Utah? Almost every team in the NBA is scoring more points and the best teams score the most points.Only Jazz play defense as the way to win and the next two best teams holding teams down in points (Memphis and San Antonio) beat Utah at it's own game.
Exum is getting a lot healthier and getting less and less minutes,he's got to be looking at the possibility that his game is more open court as the League is trending than what's happening to him in Utah.

Dante may or may not work out I just don't think the time has come to know one way or the other. I think Dante asking for a way out would hurt him more than just working hard now and improving on his deficiencies in the offseason with good health.

Dante has shown very little comparing to Kanter so I wouldn't be too concerned about him pulling Kanter.

Exum is intelligent enough to know that he's not performing well enough to demand floor time. I don't see him making any poor taste demands using the media.

I hope the Jazz don't trade him. I hope his balls eventually drop and that he learns to do exactly what the coaches are asking him to do. You know, like any professional.

I don't care if there is a "better fit" out there for him. He is getting paid to implement a game plan that serves the better players on the squad, and he should relish the opportunity. It is one of the rarest in the world.

All this pandering by fans for him to get better treatment and more opportunities than he's already getting is so weak. I'm hopeful that Dante has more manhood in him than he's given credit for in the OP.

Reading this post is like reading a schizophrenic's journal.

Fact is, you won't change anyone's opinion in a forum... Those who have given up on Dante will only see the bad and those who believe in him with think he's hard done by. Truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

Dante won't be looking to exit IMO. I think he's made of better stuff than most people around here give him credit for.

What really puzzles me is the decisive judgements being made while he is coming off an ACL...

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Peace out.
