What's new

Jazz @ Pelicans Game Thread

Considering the cost of keeping them. . . I still think that retaining both guys and building around Favors, Millsap, Hayward and Burks would have been a fine reload. Just not under Corbin. Jazz lucked into Gobert and (probably) would have still gotten Hood (but not Exum) if they'd retained those two. I'm not unhappy about the direction of the rebuild, but I believe in team building through value free agents and well scouted draft picks. Millsap and Carroll (and Bazemore the next year and Lin the year after) were all value guys I'd have tried to sign. Just my personal opinion.
I doubt we get Gobert if we keep Millsap. This roster looks seriously different. I don't think that roster is functional and didn't at the time. Millsap is still an undersized PF. It's our length that is one of our biggest advantages and Millsap hurts that advantage. He's a good player but it was time to move on.

I have to keep reminding myself that in terms of basketball development, he's still a baby learning to crawl. His physical ability is there. His basketball IQ is improving. His strength and confidence are growing. I definitely want to re-sign George Hill, but I love Dante's potential for down the road as the starting PG for this team. I just want Quin to continue to make him earn it.

His basketball IQ is already high. Just doesn't have confidence in what he's doing, but that's growing. If he can ever figure out how to finish, or hit a 10-15 foot jumper, we're golden. Kid has got great vision and IQ tho.

Just want you to know that seattle was being sarcastic and making fun of others who said burks hurts the jazz. Seattle is one of burks biggest homers.
Oh, but he's still an old fart. Lol
His wild layups can be very bad for our team when he doesnt make them.
I bet his wild layups stand up better then then Booker shooting wide open layups from the past two years with the jazz.

I never had a problem with the jazz letting him walk. It was time to rebuild an the young guys needed time to learn to carry a team. And allowed them to build through the draft then get the right vets around this team. It's a direction that needed to be taken. Now look at this team

This.
His jumpshot has always been the one thing that keeps me doubting exum. His handles are still loose but he is pretty good at not letting his loose handles hurt him by using his body to protect the ball and getting rid of the ball if he is pressured and in a bind.

that sequence with Dante posting up the guard and then feeding Withey was maybe the most impressive thing I've ever seen him do. Completely undressed that team, had Withey wide open.

Watching the replay, I'd trade The Pelican's play-by-play guy with Bolerjack in a second.

That guy is smooth - he's right up there with Ian Eagle.

To clarify: Exum's basketball aptitude is high and his IQ is high for a 21 year old.

He has a million things to learn and internalize before he has the IQ of a Hayward, Hill or Diaw. Don't expect that until he has another 3+ years under the belt.

He use to be the Lakers play-by-play commentator.

was thinking this yesterday. His handle looks sloppy af yet he rarely seems to actually lose it, and particularly when he drives it seems to stick fine then.

It's interesting that that hack of a poster, Franklin is coincidentally not around spewing his garbage. Is Corbin even in the league anymore?
Corbin was a terrible head coach, but is still a decent assistant IMO. I'm pretty sure he's in Phoenix with Earl Watson.

Is phoenix doing great?

I'm sure it's been discussed, but what a great game Dante had. Also, screw your Cy for never texting me back. That drive, to spin move, to pass...omg. What a freaking great pass. Dante has excellent vision. He's attacking a bit more, and it's better, but he's still attacking without a plan. His shot is looking a. It more fluid, more natural, which I like. But his vision...man alive.

Great post. This x 100. I love Exum.
