Quotes from the Clippers forums after game 1 - "joe Johnson f***ing Joe Johnson"

Good thing Balmer is a multi-billionaire

Huh I didn't know that that would allow him to bypass the cap rules. He's going to suck up too much cap space while his play declines, severely limiting the Clippers ability to bring in more talent to a team that has already peaked.

I would also let CP3 go and reload around my younger players.

You don't let go of a top ten player

You can trade him. Hr hasn't shown signs of falling off. Could easily be great into his late 30's like Stockton.

Stockton is a totally different thing from a different time. 1st there was no salary cap and Stockton certainly wasn't making 35% of it. Second Karl was the same age. Third, and most important, Noone would ever ever argue that Stockton and Malone may be better off with a pg/pf that better complimented each of them.

They should trade CP3 but they won't.

They shouldn't. They should trade Blake.

It's gonna be tough. Blake is starting to hit that 3pt shot, he could be lethal in a couple of years. His knees is what I'm worried about.

Gun to my head I'd probably keep CP3 and trade Blake if they don't win it this year. CP3 will still be handing out assists 3-4 years from now, and sinking those 3's, that's his game. And because he rack up so many assists, he will still be a magnet for free agents wanting to join and get easy wide open shots. I do think his game will translate better than Blake as they get older.

I just think in the modern NBA you have to have good wings who can play both sides of the ball and in the West you have to have a great PG. PF is probably the least important position as centers have gotten way more important.

So that's why in another thread I'd suggested trading Blake for Jimmy Butler. I think they could really challenge the Spurs with a crew of CP3, Butler and DeAndre. Good blend of experience and youth, attacking and defense.

Blake is the black hole, imo, for the clips. Just doesn't bring enough for what he costs, and brings too much other crap along for the ride (ego, half-assed defensive efforts, lack of team-play, etc.)

I'd convince both Blake and CP3 to sign new deals, then I'd get busy AF trading both of them.
