What's new

Following potential 2017 draftees...

His measurements are really going to matter--e.g., length and standing reach. Teams are going to want to play him at the 4, which he played mostly at SMU. If teams think he's a tweener who's too small to consistently guard 4s, it could easily push him to the 2nd round.

Draymond, Kawhi, even Carmelo, have plus length.

I disagree and I watched SMU a bunch this year and sounded the alarm on him here before DX had him in the mock... If he can carve out a niche as a SF who can flex to PF thats definitely whats best for his earning power.

How about Alec Peters?? He's gonna crush all interveiws. Great kid/teammate, and he's got a very interesting skillset, sharp offensive player.

Alec Peters kinda reminds me of Chandler Parson. I like him, with a good combine and interviews he'll definitely sneak in the 1st rd.

Parsons fits the mold of an NBA starter more. Peters probably more of a flamethrower off the bench. Peters is also a pure PF.

There are similarities for sure tho.

NBA Combine is this week. Projected draft positions are sure to shift once the measurements and interviews happen.

The offseason sure moves fast when the Jazz are in the playoffs.

Should I feel glad it was a sweep so Dennis O'Lindsey can focus on the draft?

No but I'm certainly not saying things like "CAN'T" either.. You're trying to pigeonhole this conversation.

Not at all. You are. You knew I was saying he can't rebound or defend WELL. You bringing up one block, and saying he can?

Never said he cant block anyone ever. THAT is "trying to pigeonhole" the conversation. Memo was a bad defender but blocked shots from time to time.

Come on PG_AB get real. I don't care if your opinion is different than mine. Do you think he is a good defender and rebounder?
That's all im asking.

I like the DJ Wilson suggestion. I watched a lot of Michigan tourney games because of the German on the team...Whenever I watched them Wilson played big and smart.

Semi Ojeleye needs to be a jazz man. High work ethic athletic freak. I see this guy making an impact on the floor right away.

I'll scream it until draft day. We need someone who plays with an edge, and give this team some juice. We are way too vanilla sometimes.

Wouldn't you love to see Ojeleye on the floor with Gobert?

You can have the last word. You're clearly backtracking now, retreating for higher ground...

You didn't say Can't defend rebound WELL. You posted can't rebound or defend. Like some ****ing absolute.

Nice try on attempting to sneak that qualifier in after the fact. You stand corrected.

Lots of lil updates from DX's mock in the past few days.

- Semi Ojeleye debuts in the top-45!!! been posting bout him here for months.

This was from February 14th. I'll find my initial comments in this thread on Semi later..

Let the record show I was months ahead of DX.

It's funny that Cy won't engage me in any conflict right now. He's waiting til I leave to talk **** behind my back, like the bitch he is.

this draft is gunna be crazy. in the 20 to 40 range there are a ton of bigs available.

at #42 I would love josh hart. He is the kind of player that the spurs always draft and make into contributing players.

I might be leaning towards Ojeleye at #24 and Diallo at #30. But then again at #30 one of the bigs would be nice. I love the idea of PAsecniks coming off the bench behind gobert.

Justin Patton – I would love to see him slip some to the jazz and think he would be the perfect bench compliment to gobert. He has athleticism, defense and some shooting.

John Collins – If you want to get a scoring big then he should be your choice. I am not 100% sold on him but the Jazz need someone they can dump the ball down to in the post and score. I wish favors could be that person

Donovan Mitchell – I am not sold on adding undersized players to this team. This team is all about length but I wouldn’t complain about having him come off the bench with say exum as they can switch up on players. If Mitchell would run the point for the jazz then his value goes through the roof but he is to ball dominate.

Bam Adebayo – Right now the biggest question that should surround bam is his work ethic. If he has a great work ethic then he can turn his talents into an NBA career but if he is lax and doesn’t work hard he will only be what could have been. I think he could be an asset off the bench for the Jazz and I think his shooting is better than expected

Ivan Rabb – I watch him and I am general disappointed. I think a lot of his hype is still generated from high school rep. I like his rebounding and inside game and wouldn’t cry if he was drafted but he just doesn’t push the needle for me.

Justin Jackson – biggest question will his shooting continue in the NBA? He is ready to contribute to a team now. The thing I love most about his game is the his midrange game and his floater. both will translate to the NBA.

DJ Wilson – I am up and down on this guy. I realize bigs are usually late bloomers but I will watch Wilson and think dang he could be nice then other times I see him and think who? I like that he wears shorter shorts.

Jawun Evans – I know some people really like him but I see a ball dominate pg that will dribble away the clock. The Jazz offense is all about creating mismatches and ball movement. I don’t see a great fit here.

Isaiah Hartenstein – I know there are rumors about a selfish attitude and can show poor body language during a game but you got to love a 7-0 player that can move the way that he can. I think his shooting will get better and he is a very willing passer and that is great for the Jazz. He is also decent in the low post I would love this pick for the Jazz.

Caleb Swanigan – If he bad influence family didn’t live in west valley I would be all in on swanigan. I love his inside outside game and the way he has transformed his body. Biuggest question mark is can he keep his body trim. There have been a lot of players who couldn’t and have flamed out of the NBA.

Rodions Kurucs – I just love this guy and think he is the next big thing from Europe. I like the way he plays and think he would be a great draft and stash player unless he wants to come over now. The biggest concern I have is he plays the same position as the Jazz best player Gordon Hayward. I trust snyder could find a way to get him minutes though.

Tyler Lydon – I am not sold on much that he does. I don’t like defenders coming out of Syracuse and he played stretch at the 5 for them. He can block some shots and seems athletic I just don’t have a good feeling about him.

TJ Leaf – Because of his last name I just don’t want to like him. With that said I think he is a byproduct of lonzo ball running that offense. I worry he will drop off in the NBA. He seems to be almost equal using both hands and that is important. His shooting should translate but again I just don’t like him.

Hamidou Diallo – If he can show he can shoot in drills and work outs his could fly up the list. His athleticism is there with wiggins and he has a nose for scoring but if he can’t shoot the ball it will kill his rim attacking. He is the swing for the fences pick this late in the draft.

Harry Giles – If “ifs” and “buts” were candy and nuts harry giles would be santa clause. Teams are going to take a long look at his knees. If they check out he could turn into the steal of the draft. I love his movement and his ability to go get the ball. The problem is with the damage to his knees can he learn to compensate? I wouldn’t cry if the jazz drafted him.

Luke Kennard – I love his shooting but am concerned about his abilities translating to the NBA. I think in the Jazz system he would get a lot of open looks and would be a plus addition to our offense.

Mitchell isnt undersized, he is going to measure out with a 6'9+ wingspan.
