What's new

"The Jazz are bound to shoot [Milos] Teodosic an offer sheet."

Navarro is the best example of success... he had his buddy in his team and came in in his athletic prime... good shooter but wasn't good defensively and ultimately returned for his role in Europe.

Teo is a better prospect I agree but is older and his defense has been awful in the euroleague... now we want him to guard the pgs in the western conference.

Add to it that he has never wanted to come to the NBA until now... when the money is much better than what he can expect in the NBA... he is mecurial and is the star of that league. He was so uninterested in coming over that no one bothered to draft him. Now he wants to come over and play backup pg for us?

It's far from an obvious home run for is and the cost is significant. If we let Hill walk and teo is the answer I'm sure Hayward would love that. If we resign hill and sign him Ingles or Favs will not be on the roster next year (already assuming Burks would be gone).

So yeah no cost or risk there at all. Also they play all of 30 games a year so NBA conditioning, pace, and physicality should not be accounted for. If this was two or three years ago I think the gamble would be interesting but now it doesn't make sense at all.

He wasnt a name when he was draft eligible.....

You know how drafting works, right?

I mean if it was two years 6M then fine. He can have the second year as a PO if he'd like to bet on himself. I'm dubvious of if he will defend enough and if he is motivated enough to work through the struggles when he's getting the role player treatment instead of the star treatment.

He was good enough to get drafted and teams passed because he had no interest in coming over. Google it.

From Andy Larsen:

The cap math to get Teodosic to Utah is a little bit complicated and depends on the Jazz's other free agents' decisions. Perhaps the most likely way it happens is if the Jazz use the non-taxpayer mid-level exception to sign Teodosic. A three-year deal for Teodosic under that exception would be about $26.4 million over the course of those three years, an average annual value of $8.8 million. That matches up with Teodosic's salary demands.

Give me a break man. If anyone knew he was going to be this good in Europe, they would have drafted him. Teams draft dudes who have no intention of coming to the NBA all the time *see the Jazz with Tomic*.

Their season involves a lot less games than the NBA so there would be a significant adjustment phase that could affect his consistency.

IDK how people can not be excited about potentially getting him.

If Jazz got him I'd be simultaneously excited and terrified:

Excited:
- One of world's elite passers
- Elite speed in thinking/processing game (even likely at NBA level)
- Should definitely help Jazz offense

Terrified:
- Defense
- Attitude, conditioning
- May not be as good a shooter as advertised (look at his FG%) -- more likely just good/OK than elite
- What we're risking (opportunities for Exum, chance to keep Hill, perhaps; chemistry?)
- Durability -- has missed 18 of 60 games so far this year, not sure that the odds are much better than for Hill to be durable

He was 25... the fact that it happens so rarely and has never really been done at that position is damning. If they are talented enough to play they generally make their way to the NBA by now or they just don't want to so they stay there.

Now that the money is insane Teo wants in... maybe it works but it's logical to be skeptical. The guy also may be using this to negotiate with his own team. I hope he comes over though... I want to see some youtubes.

Teodosic will be too tired to play against Exum in trainings. He cant guard anyone faster than Raymond Felton. And speeds like that... He will just give up against Wall, Westbrook and else. It doesnt help you alone to be a good passer and facilitator in the NBA.

Spanoulis is also a God in Europe, but he couldnt play in NBA. It is a totally different platform.

Andrew Gaze was a great passer and fantastic shooter and came to the NBA young. How did he go with the Washington Bullets ?

He's also in the FIBA Hall of Fame. Maybe Teodosic is flying a kite to squeeze more money out of CSKA?

Looks promising but not explosive. If you love Ingles, how could you not like this guy? He plays with personality, is a great passer and can shoot.

Don't know if he makes us a contender, but he would be an upgrade over Neto and Mack.

8 million a year is crazy to you? That is backup rotation player money. Jazz would be stupid not to sign him. Crazy how little respect you are giving to the European basketball.

I'd love you to do the math on us then. I ask again. Hill at 25-30M as you've stated. Hayward at the max. A backup pg at 8M+ in this clown. And on and on.

The math doesn't add up lest you actually think the Millers are gonna pay about 30-35M in LT.

My point is, if being a good shooter and passer if enough to get into the NBA rotation today, as suggested by many posters here, Andrew Gaze would be a 15 millions per year point guard today. Doesn't work that way。

This guy would probably attempt the most unnecessary, cool passes resulting in turnovers, driving us nuts. Add in the fact that he couldn't defend a point guard in this league and it's an obvious no at that price.
