What's new

Hill is probably going to the Jazz, if they want him.

Erm, you guys, Pau Gasol isn't on the books for 2017-2018. Green is making less than *Alec Burks* next year. Parker is in his final year of the contract, at 15mil. Lee is an expiring 2mill, Danny Green is a very tradeable 10 million.

Spurs are in a *way* better salary situation than we are. The only FAs they have to worry about are Dedmon and Patty Mills.

If they found a way to get rid of Tony Parker, our fates are basically sealed completely. Only hope is that they go for Lowry (doubtful) or Jrue (they could).

Or Mills. They love him.

They waived him but if he was still on a guaranteed contract it will still count against the books.

No I think he is wiped off for a career ending injury... it's a medical thing. Similar to Bosh and Miami.

One thing I have been told is that Gordon Hayward is hoping that the Jazz will re-sign George Hill.

SLC Dunk twitter : "Gordon Hayward to meet with Miami Heat on Saturday"

Jody says Hayward wants Hill back. Which seems so much more doable now. Timing is tricky.

So if our best chance at Hayward is Hill then no PG trades with cap space. Now we need to sure up PF or backup center if we move Favs.

Spurs are not going to salary dump Tony Parker unless he retires. And yes, Spurs basically have Aldridge and Leonard as any salary of note 2 years from now. We are talking about this year. Gasol did not exercise his option, but did so with the intent of re-signing long term. He will not sign for the minimum and still needs to be paid. Not 16 million, but at least 10. He did not sacrifice so the Spurs could sign Hill. Adding Hill does not move the needle at all for the Spurs, not now or in the future. All of this assumes that they don't try to return Simmons, Mills or Dedmon, which make a lot more sense long term than Hill does.

I think they are up to something but I don't think it's for Hill... clearing that much salary to sign Hill is a reach.

I do wonder what the hell they are up to... maybe a Griffin for LMA sign and trade?

Who knows?

If Hill/Hayward comes back. Apparently they come as a package.

Hill, Exum, Neto (Goss Dleague)
Ingles, Hood, Mitchell, Burks
Hayward, Joe Johnson
Favors, Bolomboy (Diaw)
Gobert, Withey, Bradley

Would love this roster. Getting rid of Mack! Team is more athletic, and skilled all around.
Lets get stronger, and more athletic across the board with Mitchell, and Bradley.

Well, why would Gordon want the Jazz to sign Hill if he wasn't going to sign with the Jazz, or you might also interpret it like I have, that Gordon is doing a quid pro quo?

I think it simply means that Hayward is open to re-signing with the Jazz. I think he will wait to hear each teams pitch than take a day or two to talk it over with his agent and family.

Until the pitches are heard I do not think he has made up his mind.

It's still a positive sign. If Hayward were gone, he wouldn't care who the Jazz sign or don't sign. It means that the Jazz are still solidly in consideration. Another team is going to have to convince him otherwise.

Agree... though it will be faster. Boston has to strike fast and so do we or we lose out on other targets.

I think Hayward hears all 3 pitches the first day. He will hear them Saturday IMO and decide by Monday I think.

Either way he cannot sign until 07/06/17

Edit: Fixed the date, thanks Cappy_Smurf

This is great news! I don't know how to see it any other way.
