So what happens with Troy Williams now
This is second team to bench him
What is his future with Utes
Would he be willing to switch positions maybe to WR
What do you do with a team captain that may not play

Funny cause I was listening to 700 am radio yesterday and bill Riley asked frank dolce (ute beat guy or something maybe) if this is a sign that Whitt is relinquishing control to Taylor and he said that he actually sees it as a sign that Whitt is still not letting others have their say. He said that Whitt is famous for playing the young guys and trying to maximize the time he can use them to try to reach their upside potential.

I think that's been true with Whittingham when it comes to every other position on the field but I'm still gonna disagree with Dolce when it comes to the QB position. I realize Whitt went with a young Travis Wilson, but at that time it wasn't like Utah had a senior team captain with starting experience
that he was leaving on the bench in favor of Travis.

After a night to contemplate it, I think it boils down to a few things: After the first 4 games of last year, Troy Williams completed just 48% of his passes and was a turnover machine in the red zone. Can Huntley be much worse? I also believe that Huntley separated from Williams in camp and when it comes right down to it, they probably see a player that can make plays that Troy Williams just can't. Lastly, I think it helps that Utah's first 4 games are by far the weakest part of the schedule. North Dakota, SJSU, and Arizona should be definite wins regardless of who plays QB. As far as the BYU game goes, it will be a dogfight as usual but even if Utah loses that game, they'll still be 3-1 and hopefully Huntley has built up a fair amount of confidence before the schedule turns ugly. As a fan, a loss to BYU would hurt but if that's what Utah needs to do to get this kid meaningful game reps, I'm all for it.

Utah is still going to need Troy Williams to win them some games this season. Huntley's still a pretty thin kid and I don't think he's gonna start every game. He's bound to take a few hits that lead to him missing time. Also, I don't think Huntley will have a quick hook, but if he struggles and can't pull out of it, Whit will have no problem turning to the senior.

I saw this one coming due to a local sports talk radio guy who had been to some practices saying that Huntley was the better qb in every way during practice. More accurate, read the defense better, better leader, obviously more athletic.

I figured Huntley would win the job
So did I. Told people this would happen last year

Other then Wilson, when did Whit have a perceived stud freshman qb waiting in the wings

Alright Ute Fans, we're finally just a day away!

Prediction for the game: Utah 35-10
Prediction for the season: 8-4

If this team wins 8 games this season, I'll be doing back flips. I really think this season with a new offense and a new starting QB is going to be a stepping-stone type of season that see's Utah win their first PAC 12 title and actually compete for a playoff birth in 2018/19.

My reasoning: Utah will be entering their 2nd year with the offense with not only a returning QB, but (fingers crossed) also with one of the highest rated QB recruits in the nation (Jack Tuttle). Zach Moss will be back at RB as will Armond Shyne. Every WR comes back with the exception of Carrington and 4 of the 5 starting O Lineman are coming back. Oh, and it probably doesn't hurt that a guy named Britain Covey will be back as well. Overall offensively, counting Shyne and Covey, Utah is going to bring back 17 or 18 guys that are currently on the 2-deep. That's huge.

Defensively Utah's gonna lose a little bit more, but 6 current starters are slated to return and Utah rotates at damn near every position defensively. As of right now, 16 of the Defensive 2-deep will be back and all 16 will get meaningful snaps this season.

I still expect Utah to have a good year this year and finish the season in the Top 25. That being said, any success we see this year should get Ute fans that much more excited for what lies ahead. This current group of guys could end up being the best team in school history.

Dolce is a dick. He doesn't know dick. He eats dick.

Just sayin'.

EDIT: THAT IS MY PERSONAL OPINION. He drives me nuts with his radio commentary. He should NOT be in the radio business. Riley needs a new color man, and we need someone more charismatic, qualified, literate, eloquent, and knowledgeable. ESPN 700, if you're reading this, CALL ME. I'm your huckleberry.

GAME DAY, KIDS! WOOT!!!!!!

If you get hired, see what you can do about getting rid of Gunther too.

Look like ****tttt
Ya, I expect them to get it together though and win comfortably.

Front 7 on defense looks good. Wide receivers look good. O line and qb look bad.

Utes played a pretty good game. Not great or even good really.... but not bad at all.

Carrington looked great. Huntley looked pretty good but got hit A LOT. I don't know if there were many sacks but it seemed like the o line allowed guys to pressure Huntley way too much.

WAY too many penalties.

Kicker hitting that 49 yard er was impressive.

Boobie looks like he will return a few for td's. Dude looks electric.

Not that the end outcome of the game, in a win loss sense, would have changed but the north Dakota qb losing his helmet and having to come out of the game might have effected the spread.

Overall I felt disappointed by the utes a little bit..... not a lot, just a little. Byu was much more disappointing imo.

If you told me before the game that Utah would outgain ND 500 to 230, I would have been ecstatic, yet somehow it didn't feel that impressive. Some dumb penalties and a few missed red zone opportunities yet again. That being said, I saw enough on offense to think the Troy Taylor hype might just be legit. Gotta clean some stuff up but it was game 1 of a new offense.

Not excited for BYU week. I'm seriously happier when they don't play each other.

Next week will be very interesting for both teams. Miss the days of ending the season vs BYU but having this type of game in week 2 is hella fun.

I don't know about the troy Taylor hype but I'm buying the Huntley hype. He made some really impressive throws, is a very explosive runner, is tough, and seems like a good, likeable leader.

Huntley had his moments, but he overthrow 3 deep balls in the endzone. 2 of them would have TD's. I expect we'll see a lot of good and a lot of bad this season. I thought the ND QB was more impressive honestly.

#7 Jaylon Johnson - He looked incredible. It won't be too long before he's the full time starter and playing every down. We'll definitely see him playing on Sundays.

Blackmon looked good as well. I believe in those two on the outside, but the Utes seem vulnerable against the short passing game. Boobie Hobbs stinks at playing Nickel, and the linebackers look more like beefy run stoppers than coverage guys. Maybe they slide Hansen down to LB again to help out.
