Following Potential 2018 Draftees

could you imagine if the Jazz could get another pick in the draft in the later first round and draft both Jackson and Bridges. Length, defense and shooting ... yum.

They seem to fit exactly what the Jazz are building.

Exum - 6'6" with 7'0" wing span
Mitchell - 6'3" with 7'10" wing span
Bridges - 6'7" with 7'1" wing span
Jackson - 6'7" with 7'3" wing span
Gobert - 7'1" with a 7'8" wing span (9'7" standing reach)
Favors - 6'10" with a 7'4" wing span (9'2" standing reach)*
Bradley - 6'11" with a 7'5" wing span ( 9'5" standing reach)

*if he re-signs

That is a lot of length

Hood and Ingles both have pedestrian measurements

Burks - 6'6" with a 6'11" wing span **

** if he is still on the roster next year

I think it's likely Jazz will try to trade for another pick in this draft. They have a rack of expiring contracts in Favors, Joe Johnson and the new guys who can be added to make salaries work. If for no other reason, the Jazz risk losing Johnson and Favors without compensation.

Shawn Marion was an alpha role player. It happens once in a while. Wes Matthews too.
I find anyone discussing "alpha" to be ludicrous. Unless you really know these players personalities and how they interact in groups, you really shouldn't comment on it. Being demonstrative =/= being alpha.

Are you good at basketball? That's the more relevant thing to know. Not do you have to be the most vocal and expressive.

because seeing them playing in a team setting against competition isnt enough to get to know their personalities.

Check this out.. uncanny resemblance to Exum IMO.. His handle has gotta be better at the same stage too...

I'm fairly confident he'll be a lotto pick (in 2021)

In this case, an "alpha" refers to someone with competitive drive, someone who wants to be elite and who is willing to be a leader on the court.

So is everyone in the NBA an alpha then?

To make it in the league, all the players need to be a certain level of alpha. Some have it, some don't. To be an alpha at the NBA level is even more special -- combination of talent, work ethic, and desire to be great. That's what makes Rudy and alpha and Lyles not so much.

The label is just goofy to me.

What the Jazz need is a tough, athletic 6'7" - 6'9" SF with a solid motor, defense and offensive versatility. You know, someone like Gordon Hayward. Go figure.

These numbers are innacurate for Burks, Exum, and Mitchell.

Akot's jumper bugs me. It doesn't look like he'll be able to speed his release or shoot off the dribble with that motion. He needs his feet and shoulders to be perfectly squared the way he flings the ball. Good athlete though.

What shooter exist that doesnt need to have their feet and shoulders squared?
