2011 draft.....

From what I have read and heard about Williams is that he is a very humble guy. He wasn't even ranked top 100 coming out of HS. I doubt he is really that picky or has any kind of attitude about playing in a certain location. If we where to pick him I fully expect him to come in and do his best and not complain.

The guy from DX did an article for Yahoo with pick explanations. Has us drafting Walker(gross) and Burks(ok). I highly doubt given the Jazz track record of selecting PG's they would take Walker over Knight. DX even recently updated their draft board having Utah take Knight.

If Kanter is that good, I highly doubt that the Timberwolves will pass on him at #2. Especially beings that this will be Minnesota's highest draft pick EVER. They also have a need at Center while not really having one at Point Guard or at Small Forward. If the Timberwolves want to build their team, they need to take top prospects that fill positions of need. This is how Oklahoma City built their team and they are now in the conference finals. The Timberwolves already have Michael Beasley at SF and Kevin Love at PF. They drafted Wesley Johnson with the #4 overall pick last season to be their starting shooting guard. They also have Martell Webster, Lazard Hayward, Wayne Ellington, and Anthony Randolph battling for backup positions at the 2, 3, and 4 positions. Their primary need is at center, where all they have is Darko Milicic and Nikola Pekovic. Their secondary need is as point guard, even though they just drafted Johnny Flynn in last year's draft and Ricky Rubio in the 2009 draft. Unless they are planning some major wheeling and dealing, drafting another Small Forward/Power Forward would NOT be a smart move.

I really doubt TWolves will take Kanter for themselves. With front court of Beasley and Love you need to have a defensive C behind them. "Defensive" is not what you hear what people say about Kanter.

I've seen Kanter play a lot. Maybe not 'real' games, but full speed all-out game practices at UK. With Knight, Jones, Lamb, and others on the floor, Kanter completely stands out. He is so dominant, Calipari had to sit him a few times just to be able to teach the other guys to rebound (impossible around Enes) and score. It was a 'this isn't fair' type of thing when he's on the floor. He's an animal. I think Enes and Irving are well ahead of the rest .. including Williams.

I know word on the street is that Cavs are taking Irving with the 1st pick, but I wouldn't etch that in stone. I think this draft has 4 potential stars, and after that it is filled with players that range from really solid pros to quality role players. The 4 potential stars are 1. Irving, 2. Williams, 3. Kanter, 4. Knight. Given that the Cavs have picks #1 and #4, I could see how they would not want to run the risk of drafting Irving and then seeing Knight (who by the way I remember hearing they were very high on a little while ago) as the BPA at #4. So I could definitely see them taking Williams or Kanter #1 and then taking whichever PG is left at #4. So for all you Irving fans, it's not out of the question.

If we were to land Irving....I would cream myself.

But regardless, the options of Derrick Williams and Enes Kanter is one that I never thought that we would have, and I'm incredibly happy. We're gonna get a good player and that's a relief.

I'm not sure I understand the love with Burks. He's a good player, but we really don't need a 2-guard. Hayward is our 2-guard, we need somebody who can play the 3 and I don't think Burks can.

Holy **** people need to realize Hayward can play the 3. There is no point in taking an inferior SF if there is a better SG. Stop being so stupid people.

Speaking of creaming oneself, here me out on this one. We all know that KAHHHHHHNNNN lacks a chromosome or two and word is he's going to shop the #2. So the Jazz give up Millsap, Bell, & #12 for #2 & Wesley Johnson. Then we could possibly have the choice of taking Williams/Knight or Kanter/Irving. Now tell me you did not just go from 6 to midnight (or at least a chubby).

dream on, buddy.

It might also turn out to be the only position he can play.

Yeah, I like Hayward as a 2 guard offensively, but there are some damn quick 2 guards in the league I think Hayward would struggle to man guard at times. Take BPA wing player, Hayward gives us flexibility so it would be stupid to have tunnel vision on a 2 or 3.

we should select the best player available, and that will be kanter or williams. even if we are loaded at this positions, we could trade some players. we need a wing and a point guard, so tradeable is harris and jefferson or millsap. we could get some solid value in return. we also should draft alec burks or fredette as the pick nr. 12 and sign some veterans for the minimum and we have our solid playoff-team. resign ak, cj and watson for cheap.

i'm still very high on kanter. he will be a dominant 20-10 player with a skillset that you won't see often in a big man. even if kanter goes as the first pick, he's still a steal and i believe that if he played this season, he would the a sure nr. 1 pick. he's the most underrated player, imo.

This post highlights why a player like Leonard or Singleton could be very useful to us. That is, if they can truly guard the 2 and 3 (and even some 1s). I hope we get to see a lot more of both of those players (for the #12 pick... which is where I hope Leonard returns to after the Chad Ford hype wears off).
