What's new

Remember the Alamo Dome - Jazz @ Spurs 3/23/2018 6:30 pm MST

What a great game. Watching Donovan do it all was a blast. Those three steals in a row... OMG. No one goes inside like him. He manages to put people off balance for a nano-second then makes his moves. Love it.

I thought we played well. The Spurs should be proud of that win.

All I’m saying is Aldridge, Gay and Mills seemed to have the eye of the ****ing tiger last night. Nothing we could do about that. Though we almost did. On the road. Which makes it all the more impressive.
No doubt. Fun game. Sucks to lose but im fine with the loss. The atlanta game is still hurting.

I realize Donovan sent it to overtime and played great the last 2 minutes in the fourth..... but the dude shot more then ALL 4 other starters combined. He's also in a harsh 3 point shooting slump
Ya donovan is a star and it was fun to watch him tonight but he has room to improve. Which makes sense being a rookie and all.

We are soooooooooooooooooo lucky to have him. If his 3 point shot gets better then he will be in the mvp running year after year.

Klay has a broken thumb. KD had separated cartilage on one of his ribs. Draymond is out with a strained groin. It's not just resting guys.
I heard curry got re-injured last night too.

They need to get Stockton to show these guards how to sneak up on the post guy. Mitchell did it once the entire game! I miss the days when someone knew you're supposed to drop down and take it away from a guy like Aldridge when he's backing down, especially when he's torched us all game.
agreed.

And just in general, it's kind of BS how much teams are allowed to hold Gobert on the offensive glass. Like every damn play there is a guard boxing out Rudy with his arm wrapped around his back so he cant jump.

This might not make sense but I think that the people criticizing Spida's shot selection are right and I also think that the people defending his shot selection are right as well.

As fun as this season has been with this exciting finish and as awesome as it will be to watch the jazz in the playoffs, this season isn't about this season. Its about 2 years from now. And the best thing that can happen for us 2 years from now is for Donovan to be a superstar #1 option mvp candidate. I think him taking all these shots is getting him comfortable and confident for what we will need 2 seasons from now in the finals. Most superstar #1 options have questionable shot selection often. Thats part of the job. Steph curry, durant, harden, westbrook, etc jack up shot after shot. Bombs early in the shot clock. extremely contested shots. High difficulty shots in traffic. And their teams want them taking those shots. Donovan is well on his way to being at their level. Way ahead of schedule in fact. I like where his future is headed and I think playing big minutes and taking hella shots is contributing to his (and the jazz) future success even if it sometimes hurts us right now.

Also, the turnover on Donovan is weird. The one where he saved the ball from going out of bounds and flung it to the other side of the court. The boxscore didnt count it as a turnover. It seemed like a bad call from the refs to count it as possession for Utah. I'm not completely sure how that is ruled though.
I was just gonna post this. I found it odd (and seemed wrong) that they reset the shot clock. That could have determined the outcome of the game. I dont really know if it was the right call but it seems like I have seen similar plays in the past called differently.

Too bad ingles wasn't behind the line on that 3. When they called the foul I thought for sure he was getting 3 free throws and we were headed to double OT

He got hit really hard too. Big time blown call. Looked obvious too. Maybe the ref had a bad angle and couldn't see it though i guess.

It’s because he doesn’t flop around like Mills and Manu to get the call. That one was inexcusable... LMA was trying to take a foul. There is nothing else to be watching at that point in the play and for all the guys to have a bad angle is terrible.

I think the rule interpretation might have been correct... scorekeeper was quick to reset the clock (homecooking). I think the rule is bad though, but I think I have seen it interpreted that way before.

Remember when guys would call timeout in mid air when saving the ball? Then it was outlawed because they don't have possession... how is this any different.

Again I think the rule was interpreted correctly but it is dumb imo.

I hate to say this but it should be something like football..... Did donovan make a basketball move? (dribbling, taking a few steps, passing to a teammate, shooting, etc). Chucking the ball behind your back the length of the court and having no idea where its going while flying out of bounds should not be possession. If it is then they need to change the rule.

Yup.
His shot selection is often poor. but thats a good thing. AD, Lebron, derozan, curry, durant, westbrook, harden, etc often have poor shot selection. Donovan being like those guys is a good thing.

Dante 2-2 FG, 4 AST, 2 REB in 10 min.

But he had 2 TO's.

He looked like a deer in the headlights at times though.
