Jazz 2017/18 Playoff Bus! All Aboard!

There could be another scenario here where 4 teams tie at 48 wins. The Jazz would get the 3 seed due to conference record. Blazers would get the 4 seed. Then 5 and 6 would depend upon which team between SAS and NOLA win their matchup. That would put the Thunder either 5th or 6th.

To have this happen, the Blazers would need to lose out.

I saw that one, but I think the tiebreaker for playoff seeding would be determined by the records of the 4 teams against each other as a whole, with Utah coming out on top above OKC, Portland, and Spurs.
What's messed up is Utah would be the 3 seed, OKC would be the 6 seed, but OKC would have home court because home court advantage is determined by head-to-head record, not by playoff seeding.

If we want to avoid OKC, we may actually want to root for the Pelicans.

I have no idea what's going on in SA right now.

If the Jazz win out, we're probably playing the Thunder with HCA. If we go 1-1, we probably play the Thunder without HCA. If we lose both, we probably play the Blazers without HCA. That's the summary after the Thunder's win tonight.

I think in a 4-way tie, the seeding is based on conference record. In a 3-way tie, it's based on combined record against the other teams.

Depending on how it shakes out, 3 could meet 6 OKC if we won out. Or they could be 5. Or 4.

Way too many scenarios in play. I just want to get into a seven game series and keep this bus rolling.

I'd be thrilled with that matchup.

I would be thrilled with any matchup that has the jazz in the finals.
Jazz vs Toronto
Jazz vs Cleveland
Boston
Bucks
Wizards
Sixers
Thrilled thrilled thrilled thrilled all the way around.

No worries. Jack Cooley is taking care of business and cracking heads in San Antonio.

Looks like he might go out for "collections" after the game.

When we were 19-28 what do you think our odds were to make the playoffs, more or less than our odds to win the West now? Probably way less.

I know we should just be happy with the season whatever happens, the future is bright. I agree with that. But from a different perspective: Warriors happen to be a little shaken up right now, Boston is inexperienced and injured, Philly will only get better. If you’re looking for a very brief open window, this season might be as good as any for the next five or so years.

I know it sounds crazy. But what is the sample size we are waiting for? The current team with current health is 28-5 and 15-1 on the road, are we still going with ‘hot streak’? Maybe it’s who we are.

In a seven game series maybe teams figure out our defense, OR maybe our defense figures them out. Maybe Mitchell turns the playoffs into his own playground. What if he’s just amazing in the biggest moments on the biggest stage? Would you be super shocked?

The realistic goal is to get out of the first round. That would be a huge accomplishment and I’d be thrilled. But don’t stop believing until we have lost 4 games out of 7 (we have one more loss than that in the last 33 games) sometimes everything just comes together for one season, we shouldn’t ignore a potentially open window.

Agreed.

If the Nuggets lose tonight, the Jazz could lose its final two games and take the 6th seed, opening at Portland. We'd have the tie-breaker over NOLA, Minny or SAS.

Wouldn't be bad actually.
