Oh and seems to me the KKK has already had "white pride" demonstrations. Nice job showing your ignorance.

He wasn't saying there weren't any white pride parades, he was saying that people consider it racist if there are. The KKK is widely considered racist, so thanks for proving his point.

Anyone else care to get owned in this thread?

Oh, and this **** has me on ignore, so someone quote me so she can read it. ;)

Are you going to tell me that white people have been oppressed? How exactly have white people been discriminated against?

Like, wow.

In case anyone is wondering about themselves, this test is foolproof:

Turns out I am just bi. Good test though

I think we need to start a Heterosexual Pride Month too. I am very proud of the fact that I am completely and totally hetero. I want a parade for it, I want to get on the news about it, and for my work to recognize it during that month. Time to start lobbying my congressman.

Or maybe they should change this one to be simply "Sexuality and Sexual Identity Pride Month" instead of only supporting the GLBT crowd and ignoring those who have an alternate lifestyle: straight people.

Does seem kind of discriminatory. I mean, if the goal is to be accepted, why single yourself out and separate from the rest? And I still can't figure out how transgender fits in with les, gay, and bi. A man who wants to be a woman isn't a gay man, right? It's a woman who's attracted to men and therefore not gay?

To the part in bold: Really?!! Are you going to tell me that white people have been oppressed? How exactly have white people been discriminated against? Oh and seems to me the KKK has already had "white pride" demonstrations. Nice job showing your ignorance.

I'm not saying being white is all bad or anything to be proud of. Hell growing up upper middle class wasn't exactly oppressive. But now that I'm an adult, I'd much rather have Black, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, or Arab scholarship dollars coming my way. I think on the whole, there are much more advantages when given similar economic upbringing to being a minority than being white. Especially considering "Equal Opportunity Employment" and affirmative action. Hell even getting an apartment in California, being straight is a slight disadvantage because of the hoops you have to jump through, because of the "fair housing law"

*cue Green Day lyrics

I'm kind of upset with myself for getting pos rep'd by Sloanfeld. I lean Liberal on pretty much everything, I just think "oppression" and "equality", when used "today" in reference to civil rights is a load of crap, because its all essentially fighting over tax benefits and political correctness. where back in the day it was about keeping your property and not getting killed. So the oppressed groups try to latch on to the "civil rights" boat, when civil rights was an entirely different thing.

Edit: so I don't sound like a blatant bigot, I'm all for LGBT marriage and fairness.

So no one can explain why T is included with LGB? Isn't T NOT a sexuality?

It's inherently tied up in sexuality (as has been discussed ad nauseum on this board before, as I suspect you know) and transgendereds frequently face the same (and one could easily argue more) stigma as those with non-traditionally recongized sexual orientations.

Also I'm glad to see the concept of reverse discrimination is once again rearing its ugly head, predictably as first advanced by someone on this website who once advocated for Hitler's good qualities. Everyone knows "reverse discrimination" is twice as bad as regular discrimination because it's against white people.

Is that like saying being a man or woman is tied up in sexuality? if you're a man in a woman's body you don't have an "abnormal" sexuality, right? Unless you're attracted to men I guess?

What you have is the wrong outside. And tehre's procedures to fix that. Much like the people I posted earlier that were deleted and I was scolded for. Why shouldn't we accept these people? They're not hurting anyone by making their outside more like what they are. Do they deserve any less of our respect?

What am I missing here? Seems kind of rude to force Transgenders to share a month with a group they really aren't a part of.

Are you proposing a Tranny month?

Sure, but don't limit it so much. Just like if you're celebrating the diversity of sexuality, don't leave out straight people.

What is the main issue with transgenders? That the outside doesn't match the inside, right? So why not like a "Appearance Congruity Month." That way you can include people like Leopard Man.

Not that I think some people will care, but I (along with other trans people) find the following terms offensive: tranny and transgenders. Please try to refrain from using them.

Isn't that what the group is called?
The story of America's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) community

What is "supposed" to be used? Do all T's (I'll go with that for now) feel that way or is this like sub-group within?
