Following Potential 2018 Draftees

I think the Jazz would gladly draft Brown or KBD

I agree about Brown but I disagree about KBD. I think that Diop is likely still on the board when the Jazz pick and I think they'll pass on him. Just from the stuff I've read, it seem there are a number of guys that the Jazz like more than KBD, including Huerter and Donte D.

I said all these same things about Hayward when we drafted him. Versatile 6'7" wings are valuable. Brown can do a bunch of things. I'll say this, I think he'll probably be a better player than Harrison Barnes when it's said and done. It's because he has good feel, IQ and some PG skills to go along with his size.

That's why I like the 21st pick tho, even if the draft turns out about as bad as it possibly could, the Jazz should still get a player I like.

My true nightmare is the Jazz draft Aaron Holiday or Jalen Brunson. Then I would be in a dark dark place.
Yep, I'm with you here... I think those are 2 of the players that are mocked in the 20s with consistency that I wouldn't like.

Mocks are all over the place on who the Jazz take

Espn- Elie Okobo
The ringer- Kevin Huerter
SB Nation- Dzanan Musa
Bleacher Report- Keita Bates Diop
Sports Illustrated- Troy Brown
Tankathon- Shake Milton
Nbadraft.net- Kevin Huerter

According to a compilation by SBNation, the mocks have the following taken by the Jazz at 21:

ESPN: Okobo
SBNation: Dzanan Musa (who?)
B/R: KBD
SI: Troy Brown
Tankathon: Shake Milton
CBSSports: Omari Spellman
NBADraft.net: Huerter

Just want to say that Jerome Robinson is a dramatically better offensive player than Grayson Allen. Robinson was 2nd in the ACC in scoring behind Marvin Bagley and carried his team offensively consistently facing traps and double teams. His defense is a question mark, but the idea that the Jazz would draft Grayson Allen ahead of some other guys who proved more as younger players seems ludicrous to me.

Ehh, I'd disagree. If you put Grayson on that team he would average a lot more points. Allen is also a much much better athlete.

No decent gm is gonna spent 2 roster spots on exum and brown, their redundant. The paul peirce comp is top 5 cringeworthy comps made in this thread and perhaps #1.

Troy Brown plays with a similar style. I'm not saying he's Paul Pierce. He has the potential to be a lesser version of Paul Pierce.

Regarding Brown/Exum, I don't think they're redundant. Exum has no mid-range game or off-the-bounce game, and asking him to guard 3s and 4s is a stretch unless he adds strength. Maybe a guard like Gilgeous-Alexander is a bit redundant with Exum, but I think even the two of them could play next to each other.

Wow, you'll never convince me that Grayson Allen is anywhere near the scorer that Jerome Robinson is.
He averaged 22 points his 2nd year in the league and has a much better shot selection profile. Robinson wont be able to drive and finish in the NBA. Grayson probably will.

I disagree with that. I think Robinson's scoring at 3 levels will translate. Robinson and Allen matched up several times in the ACC. Worth taking a look at.

Ehh, maybe.

The difference is Grayson is going to play a very similar role in the NBA as what he did at Duke.

Robinson is going to have a much harder transition. His game is going to be too reliant on difficult shot making.

One thing I see from Allen's stats is great inconsistency from game to game -- so much more than I'd expect from a player of his age. Actually, he was quite consistent as a sophomore, but as a junior and senior, he was very often feast or famine. Some of this may be due to changing teammates/role on the team. And I've heard in the past that inconsistency isn't a terrible thing for prospects. But I'd really hope for more from one of the oldest players in his area of the draft.
