What's new

2011 draft.....

Another reason I don't want Williams is #1 I don't think he can play sf full time, #2 one thing that killed us last year was depth, even when we were winning depth was an issue. Taking Williams means we have to trade Millsap. It seams like in the NBA it's hard to trade value for value. I don't want a 12 year player ether I don't see us getting a young stud for Millsap.

What I would love to see happen is get ether Knight or Kanter then get lucky and get Burks, with that scenario we can keep Millsap to anchor the bench. 20 min. at pf 10 min. At sf, don't forget how good his contract is (thanks Portland). Im salivating over these two lineups.

Harris- knight- Watson
Hayward- burks
Miles- Millsap- Hayward- Evans
Favors- Millsap- Evans
Jefferson- Favors-

Or

Harris- Watson- free agent or Price
Burks- Hayward- Miles
Hayward- Millsap- Miles
Favors- Millsap- Kanter
Jefferson- Kanter- Favors

Burks starting might be pushing it but who knows.

In two years that team is a contender

If we take Williams I see both Sap and Williams being frustrated with minutes.

Harris- Watson- free agent
Hayward- Burks
Miles- Hayward Williams
Favors- Millsap- Williams
Jefferson- Favors-

I don't think the Jazz have to trade Millsap because they draft Williams or Kanter. The Jazz need depth and most likely our draft picks are going to initially prove the team with depth. If Williams or Kanter become a star then the Jazz might have to trade Millsap if he is not willingly to go to the bench but for now.

I think AJ/Millsap will start and Favors/#3 will backup until they prove they can start.

Another thing, I see a lot of poster's saying the Jazz are going to have two or three #1 picks next year. How is that possible? Isn't it more likely that the Jazz could have one or none? I believe the Jazz will be giving the T-Wolves their pick and most likely will get GS unless they have a pick higher than 7. Is there any other 1st round pick I am forgetting about.

2 picks. Our own if we finish in the bottom 14 and GS pick if they finish out of the bottom 7. So it could be as high as 2 or as low as 0 as is right now.

No one said the Jazz would have three 1st round picks next year, unless it was a trade that had one coming back. Should have two though unless GS loses 10 more games. The Jazz aren't going to make the playoffs, so don't see Minny being able to claim our pick yet.

I can see Hayward continuing to play the way he did at the end of last year, and what if Favors makes a huge jump from his rookie season, also Al's second season he will have a better season then last year. I also expect to see Harris play much better. I'm confident that the three pick who ever that is will give good minutes off the bench. Don't forget we might have Memo to give us some added shooting, to automatically say we aren't going to make the playoffs is premature.

Youth movement please.

Youth will struggle to develop with out a good veteran around to help. Plus nothing develops players better than playoffs and big games. Nash would help us get back to the playoffs. I would not give up the 3 for Nash but other trades I would consider since he would be the best player in the NBA to develop young PG's and Favors that would could actually get.

I cant wait for Nash to teach our young PGs how to stop dribble penetration, especially since that was a problem with Deron.

There are 144 minutes available at the 3, 4 and 5. Since Big Al and Favors can both play the 5, and Millsap and Williams can- in a perfect world- play both the 3 and the 4, without AK (or Evans, etc.), that would leave an average of 36 minutes for those 4 (with Gordon, CJ, Raja at the 2). That's enough minutes to have one more 20 minute player at the 3/4/5 and another for garbage time, and still give the four listed above an average of 30 minutes per game (which Favors and Williams may not be ready for just yet). I'm not sure why anyone thinks this is a problem.

since this is about the draft and kanter really wants to go to the wizards and the wizards want kanter, do you think we could trade our 3rd pick to the wizards for the 5th pick and JaVale McGee? With the 5th pick we could grab a wing man like Leonard to replace AK 47, still draft someone like jimmer or klay thompson so that our 3-pt shooting improves, and we get a big man that is a great defender, that would make millsap very expendable and we could tell him he has to play SF for this season or backup to jefferson at PF. if that doesn't work out we could then trade milsap for a star wing player

Washington wouldn't do that. They would want to team up Kanter with McGee and then they can dispose of/murder/trade/eliminate Blatche.

Locke just posted his Klay Thompson video: https://youtu.be/plJG2gjZVWY

Locke seems really down on him, but I don't know what he was watching. I saw a guy I think would be good for the Jazz. He looked like he had great ability to set his man up to come around screens and be open. That type of skill is ideal in the Jazz offense. He could be a more athletic/not as good shooter version of Korver. I would like him at 12. Don't think he will be there though.

He doesn't play defense Mr. Blue so yes he would be a good fit.

Although the pot bust, and Utah don't really match up well.

Jazz fans can't question Locke. Didn't you see where we all blindly follow behind anything he says?

Are we going to have another round of Biyombo love now since Givony just declared (on Locke podcast) that he thinks the greatest chances for All-stars from this draft are Irving and Biyombo? Since I frankly have no clue, I could be talked into it.

Can't wait to actually listen to this. I can imagine lots of "Yeah, I don't see that." Or, "What about his hands since I saw in that one game he missed a couple of grabs?" I'm guessing it's a lot of, "Yeah, but we don't know how old he is."

Age concerns are real, but what Locke doesn't seem to grasp is there is a lot of tape of Biyombo playing overseas that he naturally didn't bother to look for. Not to mention performance in those leagues is more telling than what he did in the Hoops Summit.

This is my mock draft:
