Marshon Brooks destroyed Alec Burks in Bobcats Workout

I don't like the comparison of Brooks to Iverson. Very different games, different positions, roles, etc. Iverson was a game-changer in his day, and he did lead an otherwise nondescript Sixers team to the Finals.

As far as the workout with Burks goes, Brooks is the more finished product and the better scorer right now, so you can't read too much into that. The question is whether Brooks could keep up with Burks physically. Burks is being projected based on his athleticism. Brooks should be a crafty scorer and defensively competent player in the NBA, a thrid-option on offense and a player with a fairly complete game. Despite the comparisons with Kobe, Brooks' athleticism and potential as a scorer is closer to Brandon Roy, though I think he'd be a slightly poor-man's Brandon Roy.

This.

I'm not going to argue over AI and his career achievements because that is not the point. The subject is AI was overvalued the same way Brooks is. I strongly disagree with the fact that AI was overvalued because that would mean he had to win multiple championships in order to meet expectations. Can you prove such expectations existed when he was drafted? If not then your comparison is false.

Iverson was the #1 pick in the draft. Brooks will go in the middle of the first round somewhere. I don't see how Brooks is overvalued. Let him get drafted first.

careful, Archie has made his way into the basketball-talking forum once again.... Be prepared to be amazed....

Exactly. Further more, Iverson was 100% worth that #1 pick.

Did you ever watch Iverson in his prime? I mean, I know he was a chucker, but dude was special in his prime and he was far past that when he was with Denver. Also Philly had Iverson and who? Lakers had? Yeah, that's right, guy. Trying to rip on someone by using a Iverson analogy isn't really ripping on them. Especially at the 12th pick guy. Please, it's not that hard to understand.

with that 7'2" wingspan I'll bet your boy Marshon can reach around you. twice.

Now, slowly type back your response to me with one hand. grab a sock.

Marshon Brooks can tie his shoes without bending over and can leap small buildings in a single bound. He will be a good guard in the league and his long arms will make him a good defender. I saw him play twice, and maybe it was just the games that I saw, but he was lights out. He had a good handle and had some amazing dunks. Of all the shooting guards, I think he would get off to the fastest start in the league.

Yes. I was saying Marshon Brooks resembles AI in terms of body, style, position, and production. Nailed it.

If a few bad workouts dropped Burcs to the Jazz I'd be ecstatic...well, if the Jazz drafted him anyway.
