Wild to think the draft is only 12 days away.
I wouldn't *hate* it if the Jazz drafted Gafford. He's a lottery guy for me and the best center in the draft.
If we are talking Favors replacement for the backup 5 minutes and giving up on Bradley's development, he'd be a really good fit.
Hayes is just the new shiny toy.He was considered a top-20 guy last year. Now some of the shine has worn off a bit since he played a very similar role this year. I'd have to look at the numbers, but I'm not sure I see a big gap between Gafford and Jaxson Hayes at Texas just from watching them a little. They do similar things. Hayes is being projected to the Hawks at #10 on a lot of mocks.
Looks like Hayes is an inch taller and an inch longer. Hayes has higher FG%, but didn't really put up better numbers than Gafford did as a freshman.
Samanic worked out today. Walt Perrin's comments on Samanic:
** Pretty good athlete/vertical athlete
** Has the ability to become a pretty good shooter
** Can put the ball on the floor out on the perimeter to create shots
** Good passer
He went up against Gafford and also switched onto guards out on the floor.
I like Cheatham. Don't get the prince comp tho. Pretty unique player.that wooten kid out of oregon would come in and be a top 5 athlete in the league. not sure he can play basketball worth a lick, but dude jumps out of the gym. Zylan Cheatam is another guy who i wouldn't mind seeing the Jazz draft in round two. a long 6'8", he's crazy athlete, can shoot the [college] three, plays hard and should be able to switch 1 thru 4. reminds me some of taurean prince.
just in the sense that they are both in that 6'8" range, where they can switch everywhere, coming into draft both can shoot it a bit, they play hard and defend.I like Cheatham. Don't get the prince comp tho. Pretty unique player.
Yeah, I don't think he can shoot it at all and he's kind of point forwardy. He'd be more exciting if he had shooting upside or better stock %s.just in the sense that they are both in that 6'8" range, where they can switch everywhere, coming into draft both can shoot it a bit, they play hard and defend.
The Ringer's mock seems crazy to me. They have Gafford at 46th.Zylan Cheatham seems to be moving up boards too. That or draft sites are finally catching up to NBA teams when it comes to him. I noticed theringer moved him up in their last update.
The guy I think about when I watch Cheatam is Earl Clark.

Sure, but that's more wild than usual.Yeah. But the draft is still about a few weeks out. Mocks are always wild until the last few days before the draft.
I think that’s the kid I want them to pick. I like the idea of what he is and could be... I have no idea if he’s actually good but I could see him being an overlooked talent because of the Euro thing and I think had a weird contract issue. Seems like a serious kid... worked hard on his body which takes smart hard work. Hopefully he’s a good shooter rather than just a white Euro guy you think could be a good shooter.
I think he's a better athlete and can do more with the ball than Earl Clark, imo. A few people have said Cheatham has a bit of Draymond in him
I'd rather go with Justin Wright-Foreman or Jordan Poole.
