Hayward/Burks to play in the Indy Pro-Am

I remember a few months ago, I would post (along with a few others) that the Jazz making the playoffs would be much better for the team than getting some "consistently crappy 12th overall pick" after missing the playoffs.

I think it is now reasonable to retract this statement, and point out my stupidity. Alec Burks, I seriously cannot wait to see you play in Jazz uniform. 5 three pointers also excites me a little bit.

Thankfully, I was in the minority hoping the Jazz would continue to slide and get an additional lottery pick. Burks was not on my radar, though, because I was penciling Hayward in as a SG and thought the Jazz would go PG/SF in the draft. Trying not to get too excited, but it certainly appears Burks has the right attitude to go along with his skills.

Good hell who the **** wants to go through a losing season. Don't get me wrong, I like drafting good players as much as the next guy, but hell man that jazz team shouldn't have been in the lotto. When a team starts losing when does it end, but that's just me I plain hate it when the jazz lose. If you like being in the lotto be a clips fan!

I'll never understand these idiots that root for the jazz to lose. Idiots.....

Winning is better than losing, but IF losing a little more means winning a lot more .. I'm in. Sorry.

Does Burks potentially have too much hopperism in him? I suppose the answer is yes, any player does but looking at those highlights, I see a bit of a hopper. Not that that's always a bad thing. I want some cockiness. I want a player who's going to take control in tight games. I just don't want a chucker who forgets about his teammates. We already have two of those in Jefferson and Kanter, two bigs with virtually no desire to pass it back out to teammates.

It didn't seem like it to me. But maybe that's because his highlights were paired with Lance Stephenson. Very few will look like "hoppers" while playing next to Lance.

Not unusual for kids that come off teams with little supporting cast. I suspect he'll be fine.

Normally I agree but there two factors at play here which you don't realize.

1. Next year's draft is shaping up to be the best since Lebron's.
2. The Timberwolves will own the Jazz pick if it becomes a non lottery pick.
3. The GS pick owed to the Jazz is top 7 protected, so don't count on it - they will be bad!

So unless you think the rebuilding is complete now, it's a no brainer to get the young guys plenty of playing time and miss the playoffs. Now if the new CBA changes the draft rules so that they need 2 years of college to come out, it changes everything.

Ya, I hadn't considered those points, because they are the most idiotic points of argument I have ever heard. Hears three reasons to win, maybe you haven't considered.

1. We may not have a pick in a strong draft, oh well at least we made the playoffs.....
2. Damn! The pups get are pick in a really good draft, wait we made the playoffs.
3. GS just lost 50 games glad I'm a jazz fan. Hear we go playoffs.

Last year was horrible let's never do it again!

Are you a new Jazz fan? Most of us are tired of being a perennial first and second round fodder for the last 10 years. Its nice to play a week after the regular season, but then you're ancient history like every other team. Yes the Lakers are declining, but the Thunder are emerging. Look over their roster: Durant, Westbrook, Harden, and Ibaka. That's a superstar, an all star, and two likely all stars and none of them are even 25 yet. Add in the fact there is a small chance Howard goes there and its criminally insane. They will be the gatekeepers for the next decade and nothing short of an immense amount of talent will beat them. Drafts like this ony come around once or twice a decade, it is the logical time to load the **** up.

I've been watching the Jazz since the late 80's. Do you not see the young talent the jazz have amassed in the last year through trades and the draft to go along with good vets like Big Al Millsap Harris and Memo if healthy, and Ak if he resigns for cheap. Don't forget Evans showed promise, Earl is a good vet leader. As well as yes I know Bell sucked last year. I believe we miss used him, and played him too many minutes. If he gets 10 minutes a game he would be more affective, same goes for Miles, give him 10 to 15 minutes a game if he is playing well then give him more. When he sucks limit his minuts.

I'm so sick of these idiots that root for losing, and know nothing about what it takes to gain a winning tradition. There are two ways to build a team the jazz way, and the Clipper way. The Clippers seem to draft in the top ten just about every year, and they haven't made the playoffs more than three times in the last 25 years. I would be the most bitter man alive if the jazz shared your mentality.

Yes the level of talent is exciting. The big clincher will be the quality of player development and coaching (which, of course, includes in-game menagement).

While it's good that Horny is an official addition, I'm not overly optimistic over Corbin. It's unfortunately that Utah was probably in money-saving mode (and/or loyalty mode) when Sloan pouted outta there and they decided to promote TC. Whether it's pro basketball or any other business, loyalty for the sake of loyalty doesn't always pay (and that principal goes for both employer and employee/contractor alike).

At least the Jazz organization (and its fans) will insist on more excellence than the Clips do. Outcoaching Vinny del Negro is doable, too, fwiw.

I don't want to point fingers, but this is a bit overdue.

our : of or relating to us or ourselves or ourself especially as possessors or possessor, agents or agent, or objects or object of an action <our throne> <our actions> <our being chosen>

are : present 2d singular or present plural of be.

The Jazz are great!

The Jazz are our team!

Our team will win because they are the best!

Where is Vinyl when you need a jackass around?

Yes, there is a difference between the word "are" and "our." To that end I provided contextual examples above. I come in peace and hope that I have helped at least someone.

I hope you don't mind, but I'd like to add to your point while also adding input to the discussion.

If we don't make it TO the playoffs, we might end up with TWO picks in next years draft, would that be TOO bad?

I know it also depend on Golden State. We will likely end up with THEIR pick, but if they stink, THEY'RE going to keep it and will have a top 7 pick going THERE next year.

I know a lot of don't like to HEAR this, but if we suck and get GS pick as well, we could end up with a special thing HERE.

I am excited about OUR new players and I think THEY'RE going to be good, but they ARE still young. Its alright for them to develop slowly while hoping to add some more talent.

If we get TWO new top picks TO add to OUR team THEN that will be 6 top picks in 3 years, thats 5 more THAN we've had in the last 2 decades.

Hopefully a few reach THEIR potential and the others can develop into at least roll players.

A lot of people don't like that Hayward and Burks play the same position, but THEY'RE versatile and will find THEIR roll. THERE is nothing wrong with having talent on YOUR team. If you don't get excited about adding more, THEN YOU'RE a fool.

No offense, sgjazzfann, but your seemingly random use of cap'd words distracted me from your intended message. I THINK I got it, but it was a BIT painful.
OT: You in St. George?
