What's new

Where is that pit bull thread when I need it?

Well since it was invented for use as a weapon, it's a weapon. If you don't ever use it, then you have a weapon that never gets used.

Like a collector that has an old rifle hanging his living room. It can be all polished, with no intentions to ever actually shoot it. But it's still a weapon that could be used for its original purpose at any given time.
I disagree with your interpretation of it all (obviously). I maintain that a weapon requires action. In my opinion, that old rifle hanging in a living room is nothing more than a decoration until and unless it is used as a weapon. If it's never used as such, it's not a weapon. But, different people having different opinions is what makes the world go round. If everybody agreed on everything, this world would be a boring place.

And I am still amazed at how a helmet can be a weapon at times, but not at other times, in your view. Why would that be the case for a helmet, but not a gun or cropped ears?

So a gravy ladle is a weapon, because it could be used as such?
No. I never argued that anything that could possibly be used as a weapon, is a weapon. That's just distraction being thrown by the usual trolls.

I am saying if it was made for use as a weapon, then it's a weapon. Even if you don't ever plan on using it and only bought it so you could look cool, it's still a weapon.

In addition, if it wasn't made for use as a weapon, and you use it as such, then it became a weapon when you used it in that manner. For example, if you beat someone with a baseball bat, the bat was a weapon (even though that was not what it was made for). If you stab someone with a pencil, it became a weapon when you used it in that manner.

Well we can agree to disagree on that. I'm fine with that. My issue is when people call me stupid or retarded when the dictionary actually agrees with me.

The dictionary you chose to use. Others disagreed with you.

Question, why was this **** originally done to the dogs? What was the actual purpose?

Because as loggrad pointed out, some helmets were made specifically for use in battle. That would have to be considered a weapon. But a helmet made for biking, that is never used in battle, would obviously not be a weapon.

They pretty much all agreed with me. I know loggrad cherry picked from a legal dictionary, but even the regular dictionary on that same site had a similar definition to the one I posted. Merriam-Webster's website had a different definition, but the hard copy of a Merriam-Webster dictionary that I own had a similar definition to what I posted.

Unless your in a battle to reach the finish line. The helmet allows you to ride fearlessly without being afraid of crashing and smashing your head. Then good sir, it becomes a weapon, correct? To vanquish your foes?

Then I guess it's a "weapon" in the same sense that a bike race is a "battle."

You're.

Whenever I come across SaltyDawg in this forum, he always seems to be in some sort of argument whether its about the Utes, Marijuana, or now Pitbulls (of all things). Either he's a class A douchebag or everyone just really hates his guts for no reason. Not sure which one it is, though.

Actually, it's neither. It just so happens that he's one of those guys who is NEVER wrong, so it's fun (for the first little bit) to argue with him. That **** gets old in a hurry though.
