Basically, yeah. I think I'd put him at #5 in my big board at this point.
Barnes looks like a shooter who can take one or two dribbles. He's like an Allan Houston meets Luol Deng. Should go in the middle of the lottery.
Davis, Drummond, Perry Jones and Quincy Miller all look like bigger-impact players. Players like Brad Beal and Jeremy Lamb could also end up being better pros. Lamb in particular is an interesting player. Great athlete. Quick. Great Stroke. I bet he continues to move up draft boards by the end of the year.

Against one of the nation's best teams, in one of the loudest arenas and in one of the season's most highly anticipated games, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist was not a fazed freshman.
Kidd-Gilchrist, the first-year Kentucky small forward, played with as much intensity and moxie as anyone on the court in helping the top-ranked Wildcats beat No. 5 North Carolina 73-72 on Saturday in a pressure cooker of a game at Rupp Arena.

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist had 17 points and 11 rebounds against North Carolina.
He led all players in points (17) and rebounds (11) in 33 minutes - his last two points coming on a one-and-one free-throw situation with 1:33 to play to put UK ahead 73-69. He also was tasked with defending UNC's talented wing players.
"Michael was unbelievable. He is unbelievable," Kentucky coach John Calipari said. "He's the greatest kid. I used him on defense and left him alone on offense. I'm going to tell you this. If we need a free throw late in the game, I'm giving him the ball and letting him shoot it. He will not miss it late in the game. He will make a free throw late because he's got that kind of courage."
The Tar Heels made a three-pointer a minute after Kidd-Gilchrist's free throws and had a shot to win in the final seconds, but it was blocked, capping an exciting victory for the Wildcats.
"It's a blessing," Kidd-Gilchrist said. "... We're No. 1 in the country still."
".... I don't know how to explain it how it was in that locker room" after the victory.
Kidd-Gilchrist's relentless, high-energy style was his trademark as a high school star at St. Patrick High School in New Jersey, and he's carried it over to UK, needing little time to adjust to the intensity of the college game.
But Saturday's game was best so far - with season highs in points and rebounds.
"I just got in a zone," he said. "I just kept on attacking. That's what I do best is attack the rim, and that's what I was doing."
Kidd-Gilchrist made six of 10 shots from the field and five of seven free throws.
His foul shots at the end proved to be the difference, and he was glad to be told of Calipari's comments that the coach has confidence in him late in games.
"It's an honor to hear him say that, and I'm just a freshman, too," he said.
Kidd-Gilchrist injured his left shoulder on a fall during the game but returned and played well.
"It's just messed up. I'll get over it," he said. "I came back in ready to go."
UK spokesman Dewayne Peevy said a team trainer didn't specify to him what kind of shoulder injury Kidd-Gilchrist had or how severe it's believed to be, just that the team would keep evaluating him.
Kidd-Gilchrist said he thought his shoulder would be fine with some therapy.
If Kidd-Gilchrist was playing hurt, it barely showed, especially late.

UNC coach Roy Williams said he, Doron Lamb and Darius Miller sparked UK's victory with their second-half play and credited Kidd-Gilchrist for his dribble penetration and rebounding.
"That's just my thing, and that's how I play," he said. "I always do that.
"... That's just what I do best is get to the rim at will. I tried to that in the second half."
Miller said the team counts on Kidd-Gilchrist to supply energy for the team and get the rest of the Cats motivated. Miller, another small forward, said competition between them every day in practice is "a battle."
"He played great (on Saturday)," Miller said. "He provided energy for us. He did a great job of playing extremely hard and fighting the whole entire time, and we kind of fed off that. There were times we fed off his energy and caused us to play with higher intensity. That always happens when he's on the court."
The crowd of 24, 398 was loud, and Kidd-Gilchrist helped get it louder, raising his arms to the fans and pleading for more noise.
"That's what I do best," he said.
He said he was motivated to play well on such a big stage, adding that his family was in attendance and he'd played with nearly all of UNC's players on the high school camp and AAU circuit in past years.
He said UNC shooting guard Dexter Strickland, a former St. Patrick teammate, is "one of my closest friends in life."
Kidd-Gilchrist said he'd played in one game better than Saturday's - last season's New Jersey high school playoff game between St. Patrick and rival St. Anthony - two undefeated teams ranked as the top teams in the nation.
Kidd-Gilchrist's St. Pat's team lost that game, and he's hungrier than ever now to win a championship.
"For the whole (university), I just want to bring that joy back," he said. "I just want to get to March Madness. I can't wait. It needs to hurry up."

I like the Houston/Deng comparison. A player that I think Barnes could have a similar career to (at least the first few years) would be James Harden.
Still think Barnes should have gotten the last shot of the UK game in an iso.

All I've heard is the players were in shock that Davis was able to get to the shot and block it. The UNC players said they just didn't realize there was any time left on the clock. Seems a bit inconceivable to me, but that's what they said.

I think Jeremy Lamb could be a special player on offense, like Kevin Martin or Monta Ellis. Players with that combination of touch and quickness have a lot of upside. He's a decent defender too.

I think this kind of sums up why I don't like Barnes.
Barnes is averaging 4.3 rebounds a game, has 20 turnovers and six assists for the season, and has 8 combined blocks and steals on the season.
I just think somebody with his talent should be able to do so much more and he isn't....I just don't like that.

Can't say I disagree. Barnes seems to have an 'it' factor but just doesn't seem to play like it.
