What's new

Quin could decide to end 8 year tenure with Jazz according to Woj and MacMahon

Quin took the team out the gutter and turned it around. I think he could do that anywhere.

I understand new ownership wants to put their stamp on their approach and intellectually Quin may not agree. Quin would be a fantastic coach anywhere so ...what to to do. If I owned the Jazz I wouldn't want resistance to my ideas and I would be itching to try something new but at the same time I would value intelligent disagreement. I would probably move on and give Quin a consultant role with an option of coming back if the next coach is a disaster.

To be fair to Quin, I also wouldn't want to be the head coach of an organization that lets a non-top 20 player who won't be here in a couple years hold them hostage.
That's why we should trade Rudy this summer.

Quin has gotten outcoached the last couple postseasons. We do the same things over and over again, and opposing coaching staffs know how to exploit it. He doesn't know how to play promising youth to maybe provide us with another option when things get tough.

Quin isn't a bad guy, but he just hasn't gotten the job done.

If Quin wants more money or power in his next contract, he should play out his existing deal and hit the open market next summer. Not sure what he's pouting about.

When was the last time an NBA quit on account of "philosophical differences" before his contract was up?

Would be kind of interesting if the Jazz traded Quin to the Hornets in a package deal with Gobert. Jazz agree to eat Quin's contract and take back a player or pick.

This is actually really a good thing maybe. If Donovan and his team have been looking for their "out" the team changing coaches might provide some cover for them.

One side or the other leaked the story hoping to gain some leverage. It sounds like the negotiations aren't going as smooth as when Larry Miller sat down with Stock and Horney over lunch and hammered out their respective contracts. It sounds like the relationship between Quin and the FO is seriously strained.

Lol dude come on. I’d rather run it back with a better coach. Donovan is so criminally underrated on this site now.
I think he's really good... I am not interested in bending the will of the franchise to his... there are maybe like 5 players THAT good.

Are we sure it was Quin that leaked it? The way some of it is phrased makes me wonder if it was someone in the front office.
Who knows... could have been DL for all we know.

I just don't think we have a real plan we can bank on at all... just kinda going with whatevs... its going to be an interesting summer.

Let me break this down for everyone…

Jazz want a new coach but Ryan doesn’t want to pay two coaches. Fire him and you pay at least the one year left and maybe the second option year too.

Quin wants a big extension or to get a new contract elsewhere. He doesn’t want to quit as he won’t get paid. Wants to get fired and take a gap year with his money… or go to San Antonio.

So the Jazz offer him an extension at his current salary… it’s a good faith offer… he thinks he’s worth more. So he doesn’t sign it… they say “okay just come back at your current number”, but coaches can’t coach with only one year left on their deal (at least that’s how things operate these days).

So it’s a staring contest… I bet Quin quits eventually. #RMOE (Ryan’s money over everything).

All the more reason to blow **** up and let Quin coach a bunch of young tank commanders.

Yeah but none of them are good GMs. Bron got lucky with the bubble ring. Otherwise the teams he built in LA have sucked balls.
