Of course they were. We were willing to switch a 7 footer on a 6"4 SG.

I'm not sure I agree with Hardy, but its a big vote of confidence that he thinks Markkanen can switch to a really good guard like Beal.
The Wiz knew Hardy has no problem switching Lauri onto smaller players so they did all they could to make him expend energy on D and get him in early foul trouble. A sound strategy, and it worked. Luckily for us, we got balanced scoring from other people.

As for Kessler stealing KO's starting spot... LOL. The NBA doesn't work like that. You don't lose your job due to a mild ankle injury, definitely not when you're a respected vet who's been integral to the team's offense. Olynyk has his warts but he's beginning to get weirdly underrated/disliked here.

It's Vando who should move to the bench. Most games, dude brings nothing to the table.

I am all in for Colin and NAW getting more min, cutting a bit Mike and/or JC one. But i'm not sure Colin is the answer for us to win as a starter. Do not forget that he was starter when Mike was injured and we go 2-7.
I like when he come from the bench as he play against second unit team as he can make a difference. For me, with Colin, Malik Kessler NWA +++, we have the best NBA bench right now. And it can make a great difference.

And I’m sure in a year or two when we are good but not contenders, your dumbass won’t be thinking if only we had tanked and got a top 2-5 pick and got a potential superstar. The jazz and trader dan ****ed up bad.
Or we would look at our grand prize, in the form of the next incarnation of Marvin Bagley, and think "damn, I'm glad we had that miserable year".

Please stop. You’re dumbing down the board. We are already ahead of schedule due to Lauri. Did anyone think we’d have an all-star player already?

It’s insane really. Nobody helped this merry band of misfits get off the ground running like the late addition of Klynyk. Seems to be a favorite of Thurl and Boler’s - always talking about the BBIQ. Solid numbers including 43% from three and 84.5% from the line, five boards three assists over a steal a game. Well respected by his teammates. And yet he’s always the target of derision around here it seems. Is it the long hair? The blue eyes? The Jay Leno chin?

I know, people just want to see more Kessler. Understandable, but don’t discount the contributions of the big Canuck, cause we wouldn’t be where we’re at without him IMO.

Colin played great when he was the starter so you can't put that record on him. What happened when he was the starter though is we no longer had the best bench in the nba. When you bring Colin and Beasley off the bench with NAW or THT providing some quality minutes as well then you have the best bench in the nba.

Oh dear lord you’re an idiot!! Yes, that’s possible, but still our best shot at winning a chip

Where’s Lauri taking us?

At some point it just isn't worth bringing common sense into the equation. Some people just don't care about what is in the best interest of our franchise long term and are okay with being locked into that middle ground long term.

I will say our record is pretty good without KO this season. Small sample size though. We won 2 and lost 1. The one we lost was a blowout loss and the 2 we won were blowout wins. Not sure it really means much but nice to see that we can win games without him so far.

What was our record when we had conley playing but no sexton? (Im genuinely curious as I dont know what it was)
Edit: I looked it up. we won 2 games and lost 4 without sexton.

Its fine to praise KO but dont include the 5 rebounds as solid numbers.

I think what we are finding with this team is that each key player plays a role we cannot easily replace. It is the sign of a lower tier team overachieving. Miss one key cog and the wheels start to fall off. We have good depth for in-game adjustments, but not for full-on replacement. We're feeling KO's absence as well.

Too early to tell if KO's absence is a big deal or not. We got blown out on the road against cleveland in the first game without KO. Might have happened even if we had KO as cleveland has been very good this season and we haven't been very good on the road.
Then we blew out the pistons on the road in his second absence. Might have happened with him in the lineup as well since detroit isn't very good but they did beat us earlier this season when we did have KO.
Then we blew out the wizards at home in his third absence. Might have happened with him in the lineup since the wizards aren't very good and we are a very good home team but they also beat us earlier this season with KO in the lineup.

Looking at those 3 games so far I would probably say our record would be the same in those games if he didn't miss them. I do think there is a chance that we miss KO less than most of our guys since KO out means more minutes for Kessler who has been amazing for us.

Brings me back to the 14-15 season when Elijah Millsap and Dante Exum led our team in net rating and people drew all kinds of hilarious conclusions.
Bit of a difference in what those guys had on a bad team vs what Gay is doing vs the other options on a good team.

Vando shooting 41% from three on the season. (1-1 in this game. his only field goal attempt) And seems like his misses are mostly right on line and just barely miss (other than a few games ago when he hit the side of the backboard lol)
If teams leave him completely wide open then we should go to him more often. I bet he will only get more confident and even better from three. But only if he is wide open. If he isn't wide open then thats a good thing as it means he actually forcing his man out of the paint. As of now he is still getting no respect from three so if he is going to make over 40% of those looks then I say have him shoot more of them. He also might crash the offensive glass on his own corner three attempts when he misses. I always felt like I had a better idea of where my own shots were coming off the rim than anyone else on the court which made me more likely to get my own misses.
