2023 NBA Draft Megathread

I've been on this corner for a while. I think the more efficient route to improving our draft position/quality is moving up from 16. That 10-14 range has been a sweet spot in the draft for a while so double dipping there would be my preferred route. Hopefully it is cheap to get up there... 16, 28 and some light cap flexibility seems like the low price to get it done. The high price would be 16 plus another unprotected pick.

I haven’t updated my board/tiers yet….but I know I had 12 and I’m moving Bufkin up there as well. I know I’m irrationally high on Bilal but I do want two of these guys. I’m really high on this 8-14 sweet spot but am souring on the guys above and below. I don’t think it’s worth it to trade up from #9, but it is from #16.

I’m honestly hoping for the Bertans salary dump. Am I crazy for thinking he could be a player for us? Not a $17M player but at least a player who plays 15 mpg and then gets cut out of the rotation in the playoffs.

I will say I don’t understand the let whoever falls to us fall and pick them. If there is someone we like that we can move up for reasonably let’s go get that guy. **** letting other teams dictate who we get.

I agree….but IMO there’s not that guy we should absolutely trade up for. If Ainge sees another Winslow in this draft he must have I think he will trade up, I’m not in love with any of the guys above #9 though.

It seems like there isn't a player like that besides the Jazz don't have the leverage if they want to move up they would have to overpay. That can really hurt when the guy you wanted doesn't turn out how you thought he was. Look what happened we traded up for Trey Burke. I think the best thing about this draft is the depth. I see more solid players than superstars in this draft class. Jazz need talent more than one person.

lol yeah I think you are crazy but hell Hardy did some things with some dudes. He can take Gay's minutes but I think we could also treat him as an expiring if we bench him. There is some language in his contract and the last year is partially guaranteed if he doesn't play a ton... IDK.

KO and 16 for Bertans and 10 seems really fair to me and helps them a few ways.

The latest Intel is creating a clearer picture. It looks like Washington will pick Black at 8 and we'll be picking Hendricks or Walker at 9.

Could all be smoke screens, but it feels like the message is getting more consistent.
I'd be pretty happy with either, especially Walker.

I can see it both ways.

For me personally I don't think there is anyone worth giving up assets for besides Scoot and Cam. I think there are likely really good options at 9 and so why burn assets.

On the other hand I feel like our front office should have much better analysis on these prospects than me and they should be more detailed and nuanced. They should also have a more clear vision for our roster building and free agent targets. In other words I feel like they should know exactly who they want, and it feels like we certainly have the assets to make whoever they want happen.

The FO I'm sure is doing a deep dive and some of their answers to the questions do involve if Clarkson and THT are back or not. Some may involve our younger players and whether player x or y is better than some current player under contract. That is why they get paid the big bucks.

Parking Bertans on the bench for at least 22 games is absolutely the way to go. Basically makes him an expiring contract.

I know this is the “wacky” version, but as a guy not high on Brice, I’m kinda surprised to not see Brice.

He has a bankable still more so than a lot of dudes here.

Would he be on your regular big board?
In the 25-30 range probably. Just think he is a guy teams late could pass on if they are looking for someone with a more 3&D skillset.

I don't want guys who cannot play defense and from what I've read he is really bad at it.

Lol’d a little since 97% of my Sensabaugh takes are ******** on his fans because he’s terrible on defense.

In the late 20’s you aren’t getting complete players. You’re looking for dudes with a real nba skill and then you pray you can make them passable at other things.

If Brice could play d and be a walking bucket, he’s an early lottery dude.
