You can overlap IQ and Brunson though. You cant play Sexton/Brunson together at all.
Why is IQ playing 24 minutes per game then? Even so you can roll with Sexton for 16 minutes per night at 17M instead of IQ for 24 minutes per game at 30M+... also that's what the pick is for.

Because Thibs has too many guards that all need minutes and who are all worthy of minutes. Knicks need to consolidate. Brunson is incredible for them and they need to make some moves to build the team around him while keeping their options open for adding a star down the line.

I think Keldon next to Brunson would be great. He can really shoot it and fits better than RJ.
They aren't much different from one another. Keldon got demoted on a ****** Spurs team. He's fine.

If he's an all-star type player worth a max and they overlap well... then why would you play mid guys like Donte and Grimes over more IQ minutes? Just go ahead and sit those dudes and prioritize IQ.

Because the ultimate fate is probably they are trading IQ.
Even more reason to give him minutes to goose his numbers and show how well he fits in either guard position. Would boost his trade value. I think they do move him… that’s the reason they didn’t extend him. I think he’s really good… but if he’s no brainer max good then he should be getting those minutes. Unless the fit sucks… which it doesn’t?

Is Thibs known as the smartest coach?

From what I just looked up, Brunson's best 2 man (guard) lineup is him and Quickley together. Do coaches and teams always make the right decisions?

Not known as the smartest coach but he's a good coach who is known to ride his best players. If he is no brainer max good and there aren't issues with overlap then he should be getting more than 24 minutes. Thibs likes to win I know that.

I can tell you he knows the lineup data.

Just saying that if the overlap isn't an issue and they have a glut of guards... then you roll with Sexton for 16 minutes and at 17M thats better than the 25-30M you pay IQ for 24 minutes... plus you get a solid first you can use for star hunting. Its in the fairness window. Sexton has more constraints than IQ but could you live with it for 4-6 minutes a night if you wanted?

Could they get a better offer? Sure but I'm not gonna go with a blow them out of the water type offer. We have other iterations that could give them things they want as well.

He literally made two of the biggest trades in franchise history after taking over...
Exactly the point that was made in the post you quoted.

I doubt anyone is untouchable.

Is there an echo in JFC?

Anyways, untouchable means "you wont be willing to pay the price we would want". Larsen said his information is from the front office, so he is carrying their water. He clearly said Keyonte is untouchable and while Lauri isnt, its unlikely we trade him and the price would have to be super high. Everyone else was either on the block or not mentioned. There is a difference between those two things (Keyonte and Lauri)... which is that for Lauri is "suprise us with a big boy offer and he is yours", and for Keyonte its "dont bother calling, you arent willing to pay what we would want".

That doesnt mean that Keyonte is valued high, just that his value to Jazz as a developmental piece is so much higher than his market value as a trade piece would be. Keyonte also doesnt distrub the tank the way Lauri does, if that is DA's short term goal.

Keyonte being untouchable in any way, shape or form would be totally bizarre.

The whole question is theoretical, though. He doesn't even have a market at his current level.

What I think should happen yesterday is tighten up the rotation based on who has played the best the most often (consistent good play) with a splash of who we want to develop and who we think (or want to find out) will be able to help us reach our goals 2 or 3 years from now

Based off that I would give the most minutes to these guys in something like this order:
Lauri
Sexton
Simone
Kessler
Ochai
collins (he is still kinda young and on contract that might be hard to trade so he might be around for a while and his stats and consistency aren't bad. I felt icky putting him here though)
Key
THT
Taylor

That is a 9 man rotation. The rest get garbage time/inury time/foul trouble time minutes. I also know that there is no way in hell hardy would ever do this.

I voted for the #3 option. That would help hardy to do the right thing.

Why isnt Dunn on the list? He has made the most of his recently increased workload.
