What's new

Following potential 2012 draftees

My new hope. Get 2 picks- Get Austin Rivers as future PG and Terrance Ross/Harrison Barnes/Quincy Miller as 3 point shooting SF.

I would be absolutely thrilled with this scenario. I have some doubts about Rivers being a PG, but the idea of him as our PG of the future has me very intrigued.

So how did Brad Beal look today against Miss St.? He had a nice line.

He was only able to score 2 points on my boy Rodney Hood, including getting his block packed by the great one. Other than that he looked good. When Hood wasn't assigned to him he was able to get some easy baskets and hit a couple of big 3's.

Just looked at the Box-score and they didnt accredit a block to Hood. This is unjust.

We just need the best shooters available when we select. Period. I would take beal, rivers, lamb, barnes, miller. No particular order. I love mkg and know he will be a good pro, so i guess he is the only player that has trouble shooting that I'd consider.

Well said.

TJones' finger is almost entirely healed and he deserves some props for playing with fire and productivity yesterday. That is all on that.

As for Cyrone's comment on MKG playing terribly .. I disagree. He didn't score, but he pulled down a bunch of boards and, as always, locked down on his defensive assignment. He was assigned to guard the LSU's PG and held him scoreless/useless the entire game (other than when he was on the bench). I've already said, many times, Jazz should go, in order, Barnes (safest pick and shooter), Miller (most upside), and MKG (safe and a terrific player) .. so my statement isn't homerism, but rather an opposing viewpoint from looking at boxscore ---> points scored.

I think Cyrone is more anti MKG than you are a homer as odd and unfathomable as that sounds.

Agreed... Cryone seems to be close minded on alot of things.

MKG had 3 TO's and 0-5 shooting against one of the worst SEC teams. If he did defend Hickey (who isn't even that good), he didn't do a great job because he had 5 assist and 0 turnoverers. He held him to 2-6 shooting, but that is around what he averages % wise.

Im willing to bet that everyone who has ever played basketball has had a bad game before. I know i have.
So whats the point? He had a bad game, big deal. I still want him on the jazz anyway.

The point is that he can't shoot and we shouldn't draft him.

I agree I think taking best wing with the gsw pick, assuming it will be in the 8-10 range, then drafting really the BPA with ours leaning towards the best combo guard like rivers or wroten. Then in the second round draft the best pie pg avail. I am hoping for machado.

What am I disagreeing with?

Most of us feel that despite the fact that MKG is not a terrific pure shooter he is good enough at most other basketball skills that he would be a great asset to the jazz.
You SEEM to disagree with that and SEEM to think that MKG sucks and that the jazz should avoid him like the plague.
Most people on this message board would love to have MKG on the jazz. (although maybe not as much as barnes, or miller)
Hence the disagreeing.

For my part i would like MKG, then miller, then barnes and would be happy with any of them.... hell i will just be happy to even have a pick in this draft at this point since it seems possible we will end up with no picks.
Cryone to me it seems like you would like barnes the most, then miller, then about 100 other guys, and then maybe if MKG goes undrafted just maybe you would like the jazz to invite him to a workout to see if he could make the team.

You've convinced me. Trade all of our picks and anything else that we can so that we can guarantee ourselves Hood. If we get anyone but Hood this organization is headed to the same place that the Clippers were stuck in for nearly 20+ years.

Cyrone's cool. I respect that he has valid reasons he doesn't want MKG. It's not like he's saying it's because of tats or something (which he doesn't have, btw). I actually think Cy is pretty fair in his assessments. My only gripe, and it's pretty small, is that we should all see (and recognize) good games as well as bad.

I think everyone here have made good points and I think we know where most opinions lie. Now let's give kudos to these kids when they deserve and have some constructive criticism when necessary.

We're going to get a great player(s) assuming we get a pick(s). I'm looking forward to seeing who that will be ..

No need for bickering, I guarantee we will all be ecstatic if the Jazz can land one of Barnes, k-G, or Miller come draft time.
