2024-25 Trade Rumors Thread

I mean, we're now just going to have him walk for nothing while hoping he helps the team intentionally lose games for the next two years.
Unless you are wrong of course.

Guessing no first out there for Sexton or Collins… since they recorded a million seconds for basically being a toll booth… so why move good players for them I guess. I think they want the flexibility to flip the switch… even if that’s dumb and unlikely.

Trade them or what? Young, high efficiency players on good contracts? That is what they currently are. Or did you just want to give them away so all of us can spend another year not caring about jazz basketball?
This. Oh noes! We have to keep the good young guys on our team. Woe is me!

i have little problem with the jazz keeping sexton and collins. they are really good and could help the jazz if they are still around when they are ready to make a go of it. the biggest issue with keeping them around is that they help the jazz win - so if you're going to keep them around, they either need to use their imaginations on some "nagging" injuries that will keep them out or give Hardy a strict minutes restriction for them.

Well, the reason to move them is obvious. I don't think it's a bad move to not give them away for free, but keeping them isn't free either. I would have let Sexton go for expiring, but I see a more reasonable future for Collins and think he's a better player so I'm OK with not offing him for free. Realistically I don't think it makes a huge difference and I know in reality the human beings in the room are not making that decision. I mean, Cam Johnson is still on the Nets. If it were a video game I think he'd be outta there, but in real life these decisions don't go that way.

Jazz have shown they can sit players. Im not worried.

Yo can we just grab 3+ 2nds every year that we suck by out-hustling everyone? Stack those assets high, cash ‘em in for upgrades later.

This is low key one of the best Jazz deadlines ever. Turned a Room MLE signing and a vet on his last minimum contract into 3 2nds and another, maybe even better NBA player.

Like, WTF? Give Danny a paper clip and he’ll turn it into a house in a hundred transactions. I’m a cheap **** and watching this has been a weird thrill.

The Jazz did a lot of ****ery to lose a lot of games post-deadline the past two years. This year they've done more ****ery pre-deadline than they ever have. I have no reason to believe the ****ery will slowdown, only ramp up, more than it ever has.

That’s what’s nuts: how many 2nds would trading Sexton and Collins get you if you were impatient? I reckon it’s in the neighborhood of five.

I would’ve loved any swap or 1st we could’ve collected (given that Sexton and JCx2 traded this off-season is 2x the playoff runs now vs next year), and I would love to know what was on the table, but this was fine.

We saw four seconds go for a bad first (sorta), so a 4-5 second round pick package would definitely do it for me with either of them. Sexton, it would take me zero....just expiring salary. Collins, I might want that full 4-5 second round pick value. I think he's a lot better/more valuable than Sexton personally.

I like Collins, Clarkson, and sexton so I'm glad they stayed. If we get Flagg with that roster, we're going to be just fine

Much like Favors’ plantar fasciitis or Hood’s explosive diarrhea, tankitis is a complicated, chronic condition that must be carefully managed.

I'm not even mad. The Collins contract isn't great but John is playing well and seems to like playing here. And Sexton is still only 26 and he's our most efficient guard who should get more love from Jazz fans.
