I can’t afford this Trump economy

A few years back I desperately needed rheumatologist so I got a referral and 8 months later they called me telling me there was an appointment available. So glad I don't have to wait in long lines.
I get MRIs fairly regularly, usually wait 3-5 months to get an appointment. I have been waiting 5 months now that we moved back to Utah, and my appointment has been moved on me 3 times.

When we lived in Germany, you know horrible evil "socialized medicine", my wife needed an MRI on her hip. She was in the office getting it done within 3 days. We never saw a wait longer than maybe a week to get into any doctor we needed to visit while we were there. Neurologist for my son? In the next day. PT for my wife? Same day. Orthopedic surgeon for me? 1 week. I have not seen a closer appointment than a full month in the states for the past maybe 10 years. We spend the most on healthcare and have some of the worst outcomes in the developed world. It is a travesty. And now Trump is gearing up to gut Medicaid so Musk can get a payday. What the **** is wrong with everyone?

I had a very similar issue.

So if we’re waiting months to receive health care and having to pay out of our *** to receive care, what’s the point of our insurance based system?
The point of the market economy is to make the business owners/principals rich. It is designed to funnel money from the bottom to the top. That is the point of it.

They voted for Donald Trump for president and for a change in the direction of the federal government. But this wasn't the kind of change they had in mind.

Laid off by the administration in recent days from their U.S. government jobs, the Trump voters expressed dismay at what they said has been an unfocused, counterproductive and callous slashing of the federal workforce.

Rather than advancing the efficiency President Trump has said he desires, the fired workers said taxpayers will be losing important services that, for example, helped military veterans cope with financial hardships, searched for drought- and pest-tolerant crops and assured that medical providers got Medicare reimbursements.

Some of the workers are appealing to get their jobs back, while others said they are not sure what to do — deeply discouraged that their attempts at public service appeared to be spurned by the new president and some of the public.

"I was thinking that there would be changes," said a Department of Agriculture researcher in the mid-Atlantic region who studies drought- and pest-resistant crops. "But instead of being focused, this is just going completely off the rails, chopping and slicing up parts of the government that are protecting Americans."

The worker — who asked to remain anonymous to increase his chances of regaining his job — said he twice voted for Trump and was disturbed at how much authority over government reductions the president had turned over to his chief cost-cutter, Elon Musk.

Same for me too. I've had issues with seizures for much of my adult life and it was constant waiting for MRI's and Neurologists. My work changes their insurance and then I'm having to look for a new Neurologist in-network. The whole thing is a painful joke.

Meh. As long as he’s hurting the DEIs it’s fine with me. Besides, I’m gonna be a billionaire too someday. Especially once we deport all the illegals and give people like Trump and Musk a tax cut.

Sincerely,

The Avg MAGA

I hope folks are preparing for another bad recession. This will be the third time in my adult life a Republican president has run our country off an economic cliff. It’s getting old.

But you must think of the poor billionaires!

You'd be front of the queue here and yeah it would all be free.

Lazy bastards, they can get a ****ing real job, like working in a private prison or something.

FWIW I usually get mri’s or ultrasounds within a few days here in NJ. Never had a problem waiting.

In San Diego, I also can get an MRI extremely quickly. I've also never had to wait long for any specialist I've ever needed. Utah must be a healthcare desert.
