Following potential 2012 draftees

Does P. Jones play mostly pf or sf for his team, also what will be his primary position in the NBA be??

Thanks.

He's a PF that gets a little perimeter happy. IMO, he's a great PF that can stretch the floor ... rather than a SF that can't defend most SF's as well on the perimeter.

Not a good day for Rivers. 43 minutes; scored 20, but shot 1/7 from three and had ZERO assists.

On the bright side, still shot 7-15 overall and had 9 rebounds. He did have some nice passes that Kelly and the Plumless dropped...but definitely not his best game from a creating for others standpoint.

And that is a downgrade from Harris how?

He was just giving Rivers props, I think. No offense to either of us, I think.

Yes, I was agreeing with both of you. I am on the Rivers bandwagon. I would also be happy with Beal.

Here are the numbers right now:

Beal:
SEASON TEAM MIN FGM-FGA FG% 3PM-3PA 3P% FTM-FTA FT% REB AST BLK STL PF TO PTS
2011-12 FLA 33.4 4.7-10.5 .442 1.7-5.0 .345 3.3-4.4 .743 6.1 1.9 0.8 1.3 2.0 2.2 14.3

Rivers:
SEASON TEAM MIN FGM-FGA FG% 3PM-3PA 3P% FTM-FTA FT% REB AST BLK STL PF TO PTS
2011-12 DUKE 31.0 4.9-11.0 .446 1.5-3.7 .402 3.0-4.3 .684 2.9 2.1 0.0 0.9 2.1 2.3 14.3

So Rivers has the higher 3pt% and passes the ball just a little more. Beal is the better rebounder and seems like a better defender. They are close.

He's a finesse PF, best case Vin Baker IMO, or maybe LMA.

LMA sounds about right, at least for a modern comparison. LMA can be brilliant at times, but falls in love with his 18 footer too much. That along with an average rebounder considering his immense size and length.

The Jazz are 5th in the Western Conference for the moment. The 2nd - 8th seeds are separated by just 2 games with 1/3 of the season in the books. To miss the playoffs and keep their draft pick, the Jazz would have to slip below Houston or Memphis.

1 OKC
2 LAC (3)
3 SAS (3)
4 DEN (3.5)
5 UTA (4.5)
6 POR (4.5)
7 LAL (4.5)
8 DAL (5)
9 HOU (5.5)
10 MEM (6.5)
11 MIN (6.5)

You have to put Min in the running, too.

It's a decent comparison. I'd say P-Jones is much more athletic/explosive though.

A couple more predictions/comparisons:

MKG = Richard Jefferson (with better intangibles)

Quincy Miller = lighter version of Danny Manning

I'm also starting to lean towards PKM's opinion that Rivers could be our guy for the backcourt.

I like his drive and tenacity. He seems like he could have that attitude that DWill brought to the Jazz. If we drafted him and we let Watson tutor him a bit I would be so happy. Imagine a taller version of Watson (due to attitude and toughness, not skill) with a better outside shot.
