What's new

It's a no-no...

No, I was sitting in my car. Not moving. I thought it would be a quiet place with no distractions.
If the company was professional, they would have had me come in to their office to do it face to face. Especially since they are located so close to me.

Are you done being a jackass?

Um, I wasn't being a jackass. If your car wasn't moving how did they know you did the phone interview from your car? To me, sitting in a relatively quiet place and doing a phone interview from a car doesn't sound that bad. Are you supposed to get in a suit and tie and sit at a desk to do a phone interview? I didn't think so, but I haven't been looking for a job recently, either. Maybe someone else can shed some light on what's wrong with sitting in your car for a phone interview.

When I was looking for a job last I remember driving and getting a call from the place I work now (I think it was them, anyway). I told him I was driving and would like to call him back. He said sure...and then kept on talking, saying he only had a few questions. 5-10 min later he let me go.

Hopefully that wasn't too much jackass for you.

.

The interview went over a half hour and I got hot, and said I wanted to open the door to get some air.

Yet I am the one with succesful interviews and have never interviewed for something I did not get.

horray for you.
But I'm not impressed by fast food and 7/11 jobs.

I have gotten about 15 professional offers throughout my career. I turned some of them down.
I don't have to accept whatever job offer comes my way. They have to impress me too.

You are so full of ****. Keep on with the baseless attacks.

I offered good advice and a true critique. You do not like it than that is to bad.

You are so full of ****. Last time I worked for a fast food chain I was 16. I am a federal employee

why GoJazz....we cross?

Yes, jobs have to impress me. I am a software engineer. I have skills that companies pay big for. I don't have to take the first offer that comes my way. Some companies don't think they have to pay much for an engineer. Some companies have given my offers that I laughed at. Some places just plain suck and I don't want to work for them.

A federal employee? Doing what?

Recruiters fault? Check.
Interviewers fault? Check.
Everyone's fault but mine? Check.

Sounds like people that come talk to me. They ask me questions and when I tell them the answer they disagree with me. My response is usually along the lines of"If you know all the answeres than why are you here? There is the door. Next?" They shut up real fast.

Not cross at all. I have never been cross on here. Wrong tree

As for what that is none of your business.

You must be selling a ****-ton of those sweet MLM vitamins. How's the down line looking, anyhow?

I remember a time when you were very fond of Craig.

I like him just fine. I think he tries to portray a persona on here that is not really him. Only two people on here annoy me and they are on ignore.

Edit: His personal life not being my business has nothing to do with liking or not liking him.

Hold on, hold on! I need to get my hip waders.

OK, I am ready. If you did not want the job you would have told them no thank you when they set up the second interview. You probably would have contacted your recruiter, you know the professional you are not listening to, and spoken with him about not liking that company and wishing to pursue another firm.

Let's say you did not want that job. Well you just wasted that recruiter and software firms time. That is also unprofessional and adds to your growing bad reputation. I think everyone but you can see the pattern here.

The problem is not them it is you and your attitude. I did not single out your positions on anything, just your attitude.

My attitude. oh.
You know why I don't want the job? Because they dismissed me for such stupid reasons. I didn't know they were going to do that.
I'm not gonna cry because I didn't get some job. When a company pulls these kinds of silly shenanigans, I don't need them.
Some companies act like this but they don't come with warning labels.

And I had enough with the recruiter. I gave him many chances, this is not the first time he has acted unprofessionally and stupidly. It was the last straw.
My reputation in my field is not determined by one company that never saw me face to face and a recruiter.

Recruiters are idiots. They know nothing about my field. All they want is me to get a job that they placed me at so they can make a lot of dough off of my work. When they read my resume, they have no idea what it is about.
Many times they call me and ask me the silliest questions that make me say "can you freaken read?"

I mean, recently, a recruiter called me and asked me to send me my resume. I did. He then wrote back to me and said "You need to tailor your resume for C#. It looks like most of your experience is with VB. Please adjust your resume and send it back"

I about died laughing. All of my past 5 years of experience was with C#. I had not done VB in at least 5 years, and then only minimally. I don't know what he was looking at.
So I sent him my same resume again with no changes and told him that I had done what he asked and he responded with "Much Better"

I mean, how am I supposed to take anyone seriously after that?

I suppose I could explain to you how interviewing works in my field, but it would take too long. Just trust me when I tell you that I know what I am doing. 15 years of experience....get it?
