New Orleans wants JAZZ name back

Look I know I've new here but I been following this site for years now, & the 504 kid has a point. Look I'm a die hard jazz fan, but the name doesn't fit us at all. New Orleans is the home of Jazz & Jazz was their rightful name. I beleave we shall give them their stinking name back & start our own, but the price will not be cheap for their name! We even have change our colors to Mardi Grass colors, which is completely to far! That's totally jacking their whole pride & heritage.

Also as we all are nagging on their team, they have 1 a better organization then us, 2 a better team, & 3 a more promising future. Now things can change over an off-season. But honestly we need to give them their name & logo back & start something we can rightfully call ours. But 504 I understand what you are saying but you came a little to hard bro.

Ok, so the OP was a litle snarky, but it's a legit question though. That name and color scheme is deeply rooted in New Orleans long before basketball and still to this day. For anyone who visited the city, you know you see those colors everywhere and especially during Mardi Gras. To this day, it's quite wierd for someone from New Orleans to watch a Utah Jazz game with that name and those colors to match.

The thing is, Utah even changed their color scheme and logo for about 10 years was it? So it seems to me that Utah is not that attached to it. I mean, mountain logos, blue and white color scheme, yet still Jazz??

The original Jazz didn't leave New Orleans for lack of support either. They were top 5 in attendance for a while since they played in the biggest stadium for basketball in the Superdome. Attendance didn't drop until the team became woeful. Other issues also came about for them to leave.

So, if Benson is willing to pay for it, wouldn't Utah be accepting of something more relevant to the state of Utah? Why or why not?

On a side note, I got a chuckle out of the replies here that demean the city of New Orleans, while at the same time vehemently wanting their basketball team to wear the name and colors of the very city they are chiding. Ironic?

Haha, nice alt account, *******. One post, a "die-hard" Jazz fan claiming the Hornets are a better organization than the Jazz?

Get the **** outta here.

The name isn't about music anymore. It's a new era.

Bio-digital Jazz, man.

Creating multiple accounts to back your original post works a lot better when you have a basic grasp of the english language.

I'm pondering whether to ban you now or later.

WTH, bro I said I have been following the site, if you can read I said followed, C'mon bro it's called being honest man!

I'm thinking, NO gives us Gordon, there upcoming first round draft pick, and the Saints give us there name. That sounds like a fair trade ;)

Sports team names aren't about what name "fits the city", and you sure as hell don't see the Timberwolves asking the Lakers for the name back.

Have you ever seen a Giant in San Francisco or New York? Do Buccaneers roam the waters of Tampa Bay? Exactly how many Penguins are native to Pittsburgh?

In other words:

Neither the name nor the colors belong to New Orleans, so no, not ironic.

You're not the first person here to make a false account to back up their ****ty opinion, and you won't be the last.

You do have the honor of resorting to alt accounts faster than anyone I've ever seen, so congratulations for that I guess.

You guys are all so clueless. The NO hornets have had such a rough time of it i think the league owes them their name back. so they can take their rightful place as one of the marquee franchises in the league. I've been a huge fan of both franchises since their inception as i can say with an unbiased opinion that the jazz should relinquish the name. then utah can come up with a new one that would more accurately represent the culture of the state. like maybe the Utah Scrappin' Whities. Or the Great Salt Lakes! I don't know. I'm just spitballin here. What has utah done to deserve such a great name anyway. not much.

Beside if for some reason the jazz sold the name they would sell the logo. That would be stupid.

Here are a few names

NO gators
NO crawfish
NO pythons
NO sharks
NO saints
NO not the jazz

I still say Brass is the best name they have. Voodoo would also be a good one. Jesuit also, fitting with the religious inspired name the saints have.
