Openly Gay Man Called To Serve in Key LDS Position

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

For some reason, rabid atheists tend to ignore the bolded part above.

And I agree that such acts are stupid. But it is the same like muslims moving to western countries and complaining that image of Jesus in schools is offending to their children. Or that they need separate change rooms in public pools. Or that sikhs can ride the bikes without helmets as they can't put it over their turbans. Or when Jehova's witnesses sues hospitals for saving their life after blood transfusion. Numerous of other ridiculous demands one or other religion is trying to force to fit their own needs.

Not one of the examples you listed ever applies to you or your child. How does a Jehovas witness not wanting a blood transfusion force religion upon you or your children? Having a practive/belief that you think is stupid/misguided does not equal them forcing compliance of their belief upon you. Focus your arguement.

Nothing stopping a racist from being a happy person either. (not indicating all Norwegians or Dutch are racists. I have no knowledge of that)

Denmark and Norway are one of the best and most prosperous countries in the world. Racism or not they know how to rule their countries and make their people happy.

What if my child is a nurse who did blood transfusion in hospital and is being sued?

What's ridiculous are demands made by people to force religion out of people's lives because they can't bear to look at it... it is offensive to them.

Those people are crazy lunatics.... eh?

So basically your arguement is that by her going against their religious convictions and forcing something upon them that she is being forced to adhere to theirs?

I missed the part where her violating someones beliefs forced her to live by those same standards. Guess no more blood transfusions for your daughter. (that would be forcing compliance upon her).

So why Denmark is happiest country in the world for numerous years in a row and Norway ranks 3d?

Go ask any Muslim in Denmark to see of he's satisfied, or if he feels equal to any man of Danish origin.

I lived with my entire family in Germany in the 5th grade, and the first thing my parents did upon coming back to Canada was kissing the pavement. Don't speak out of your *** if your never lived in these places.

well, and it would be fine as long as those practices don't demand to break the rules/laws to which all citizens of the country should obey - see riding motorcycle without helmet for example. Why then US do not allow muslims to practice polygamy they have in their native countries? Why female circumcision is banned and is prosecuted if it is right of those people in Africa?
See, in IMHO country/state has rules/laws for reason - no religion should be used as excuse to ignore or break them.

That would depend on the rule or law and what it is designed to do. Basically you do not want/like others practicing their beliefs if it disagrees with your view of the world.

Well, if they unsatisfied why they are still there - nobody forced them to move to Denmark or Germany right? They could have moved to Turkey, Iran, Pakistan or any other muslim country:) .
I visited Denmark and Germany numerous times, could easily see myself living there. Great, great countries.

Not true. Helmets for motorcyclists is not my view of the world - it is simple rule.

Nobody was talking about same standards. Example is about somebodies religion interfering with others daily life and duties.

That's funny, because 3 of our family friends living in Netherlands are currently applying or visas to live in Canada. I also would really enjoy myself vacationing in Rio De Janeiro; does it make it a great place to live? What poor logic, my goodness.

Also, I never said that places like Denmark or Norway or Germany are comparable to Iran or Iraq or whatever. You have shared your wishes for the US to be more like these northern European countries, and I'm simply pointing out the irony of your wishes.

I heard atheists love slavery and are pissed that the North won the war by putting "In God We Trust" on the currency for the very first time. :p
