Openly Gay Man Called To Serve in Key LDS Position

Why then there is "In God we Trust" on official US banknote?

Of all of the problems in the world, this is what keeps an atheist awake at night. I am appalled.

PS: a proper way to phrase your question could have been:

Then why is "In God we Trust" on the official US banknote?

But I never used word dark in connection with skin tone here!!! It refers more to Dark Ages - or people living in the darkness of fear...Don't understand why would anybody make connection with skin color here - from 2.2 bil christians in the world most are white - that would make no sense at all.

Then maybe you should make that distinction instead of saying dark people. Dark people means skin tone. I even gave you the benefit of the doubt as I do not think you meant it racially, that is just how it came out. Why not just use the word uneducated?

OK. Lesson learned.

lol, relax, I am not losing my sleep over it. Just example of religion being in the place where it should not.

According to the opinion of some people. The opinions of others think it is right where it belongs.

True, but I am adult and educated enough to understand and make choice. Children on the other hand may start questioning.

Isn't that exactly what we want our children to do? Question everything? You yourself said you are fine with them worshipping anything as long as they make the choice but then you are against things that would encourage that choice.

Is church officially separated from state in US? Just curious.

The state can not make an official denomination/religion the official state religion. As a result of that they have not. Ic an see athiest concerns over religion I can. However, like everything else in life, the differing sides leave no room for compromise.

Like school prayer. Why not set aside 5 minutes everymorning for a student to do what he wishes at his desk? If he wants to pray then awesome. If he wants to play on his smart phone than that is awesome to.

That is not the way I see it. If they see statement like that on official banknote they may take it as the fact/rule/law. As I said church and state in my opinion should be separated. State should not make statements like that on any official papers including banknotes.

found this... perfect examples of religion being forced.

"Although it has become tradition for US presidents to end their Presidential Oath with "so help me God", this is not required by the Constitution. However, the Vice President, the House of Representatives, the Senate, the members of the Cabinet, and all other civil and military officers and federal employees other than the President are required to take an oath ending with "so help me God."

Some state constitutions in the US require belief in God or a Supreme Being as a prerequisite for holding public office or being a witness in court. This applies to Arkansas, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, and Texas.

I am often quite disappointed with our generation. The things we find to complain about- I mean really? A ****ing quote on a banknote? This to you is proof that you cannot live in the US without being influenced by Christian faith? Newsflash dickweed, Im a Muslim in a country that has had Protestant beliefs permeated through much of its history, and I feel perfectly comfortable, and uninfluenced. Sure, "God keep our land/glorious and free" is in the national anthem, which some Atheists might find a bit offensive, but I mean really? Is this what keeps one awake at night? 'Church and state must be separated'...youve got to be kidding me. Live in Saudi Arabia for a few years, and I guarantee you that you'll change your tune. Better yet, move to a "secular" nation like Norway, Denmark, or Germany, and have fun dealing with the blatant racism that still permeates much of their respective societies to this day.

Well Canada is way more liberal when it comes to religion then US, good for you for making right choice - if muslim immigration and reproduction will continue in current rates in 100 years it will be dominant religion here... Calgary already has first muslim mayor in N.America.
And sure you can live in US and be happy atheist - see this data:

A 2006 study at the University of Minnesota showed atheists to be the most distrusted minority among Americans. In the study, sociologists Penny Edgell, Joseph Gerties and Douglas Hartmann conducted a survey of American public opinion on attitudes towards different groups. 40% of respondents characterized atheists as a group that "does not at all agree with my vision of American society", putting atheists well ahead of every other group, with the next highest being Muslims (26%) and homosexuals (23%). When participants were asked whether they agreed with the statement, "I would disapprove if my child wanted to marry a member of this group," atheists again led minorities, with 48% disapproval, followed by Muslims (34%) and African-Americans (27%).[70][71] Joe Foley, co-chairman for Campus Atheists and Secular Humanists, commented on the results, "I know atheists aren't studied that much as a sociological group, but I guess atheists are one of the last groups remaining that it's still socially acceptable to hate."

I do not see it as hate at all. Look at the media narrative that you see in relation to atheists. It shows them going after things such as cross on the roads or a saints statue in a park of some small town. Religious people generally see that as an attack on their faith. So of course their is mistrust and a divide on where they think the country should head. That does not mean they hate atheists. You can dislike/disagree with someone and not hate them. Also wanting your child to marry someone with the same belief is normal. Wanting something and standing in the way of something diffirent are often two very different things.

Also wanting your child to marry someone with the same belief is normal. .

But wanting your child to marry someone with the same color of the skin is racist and to marry someone of opposite sex is homophobic? How is that making any sense?

And I agree that such acts are stupid. But it is the same like muslims moving to western countries and complaining that image of Jesus in schools is offending to their children. Or that they need separate change rooms in public pools. Or that sikhs can ride the bikes without helmets as they can't put it over their turbans. Or when Jehova's witnesses sues hospitals for saving their life after blood transfusion. Numerous of other ridiculous demands one or other religion is trying to force to fit their own needs.
