Minnesota finalizing 2 year $20MM deal with AK - per Y!Woj

AK comes back to the NBA with the same kind of 3-point % outlier in his last year in the league (37% vs. 31% career) as Marvin (39% vs. 33% career). Both are around 12 PPG and 5 RPG in 30 MPG for their careers, although AK does more in BPG, SPG, APG, and <<cough>> TO/PG.

That being said, I speculate that Marvin will be more productive in the Jazz system than even a relatively healthy AK will have with the Timberwhites. One key will be how much more of an impact defensively a 31-year-old Kirilenko has than a Marvin Williams five years Kiri's junior, who comes in with a good rep on D also.

Or you might take a casual glance at his stats.

Alright, then vastly underperformed and could never cope with not being The Man because he never was and never will be that on a winning team. He should probably sulk some more about it. It's a shame he's only made $100 million ******* bucks.

AK might be better on the Timberwolves or might not. I do not care. I won't root against him, but I won't root for him. He's a ghost to me.

Thanks for ruining our window, AK. Have fun in Minnesota.

Or just never utilized the way he should have been. I'm excited for AK. We'll see how he plays.

Marvin can only dream of being as good as AK. But that's a good spin, I'll give you that.

Yeah, this is exactly why we were just indestructible when we had Boozer, Williams, Okur along with Kirilenko. If Andrei was as good as these "Jazzfanz" play him out to be then wouldn't we have made a couple of Finals appearances, or more than 1 WCF appearance with 4 All Stars playing on this team? Kirilenko is made out as some demi-god Russian (Drago) who just silently destroyed the league.

Kirilenko made the All Star team the same year Magloire made it, the 03-04 NBA Roster as a whole was WEAK. Corey Blount was still in the NBA, on a team, and was in his mid-to-late 30s. Says a lot. Kirilenko was tearing up the league on scrubs. And he still couldn't average over 20 points per game. He couldn't even hit 17, could he? And he was a star player. Pretty much the Josh Smith of the Utah Jazz. You do see that we, as a 03-04 Jazz team and what type of players we had damn near made the playoffs? That speaks volumes.

I'd say it's a combination of not being utilized correctly and under-performing. Both sides (Sloan/Jazz) and AK should share the blame for things not working out better with AK in his time here.

Andrei Kirilenko has posted up in the NBA before, he has not been proficient at it. But let's blame everyone else. My favorite players are the ones that have more excuses than merits to their name.

Funny you should mention that run. The one where AK was - presumably - utilized worse than any other year of his career. And the Jazz did fine. Too bad the Jazz made him show up late and leave early from practice and totally mail it in because he had his precious vacation to attend to. It's just such a shame that the Jazz made him be a bad and increasingly worse shooter, made him a worse rebounder and defender, because he wasn't getting touches (because he was a bad and worsening shooter, took bad shots, and broke off plays). What a raw deal he was dealt. $86 million doesn't even touch what the Jazz owe him.

A slight modification to my opinion: I am ****ing PUMPED I don't have to worry that I'll see his moon-faced pouting, his maddening shot selection, or his one mind-blowingly good game to go with two putrid games and three completely mediocre ones. I'm glad I don't have to be reminded the one player that made more money than and outlasted Sloan, Boozer, and Deron. I don't have to worry about his potato-faced mess of a wife dragging out even more sulking and bitterness to the press either.

What he does with the Timberwolves is irrelevant, I don't have to worry about his bull **** messing up the Jazz anymore. And for that I am stoked. Thank you David Kahn.

I like AK as much as the next guy, but $10 mill a year?

What an irrational, assinine comment from a normally solid poster.

I'm not really sure how AK getting a 2 year/20 million deal has revived AK love on the board. The guy sucks and is overpaid again. I would give him 6 million per at the max. He will again be put with a dominant PF and a ball handling PG, unless AK really didn't give a **** in Utah for those last 5-6 years, I doubt he is going to do much better with the Wolves.

usually you are spot on but here you are dead wrong. Last 5-6 years AK's ronald rating was top 1-3 on the Jazz except in 2007 where he was freezed of Utah offense. I bet he will have better year with Wolves then Marvin or Gordon with Jazz. And Rubio is pass first PG with no EGO. Big difference from Williams.

Dwill summed it up best when he said Ak was the last to arrive, and the first to leave practice.

Guy had no heart for us after his contract. We've all see what he can do when he plays hard. Sad that it was mostly effort, fragility, and ego that killed AK in the end.
