I am half black half white. Spent 8 yrs in Utah at hill airforce base as a kid thru highschool. Loved the jazz since. Not that this should change anything.
 
Box, seein as how the attempt to prove your points by insult seems to have died down a bit, lemme ax ya: What leads you to recommend that Jefferson quit tryin to talk proper?

I have some friends that have a hard time with this. They try so hard to be proper in situations that it just all come out wrong. The nerves just get them. That does not mean they are not inteligent by any means. They just aren't being themselves which is tough for anyone.

Well, OK, but so what? Doesn't most worthwhile improvement require some effort and "discomfort?" Why should some kid just say, for example, "I should just quit tryin to dribble a basketball better and just "be myself," i.e. a no-dribblin non-player?" Because it's work? Because others might laugh at him before he gets better, when they see him dribble? It what "one is" set in stone?

I hear you, and I agree. I'm not going to say my choice of words were the best. Just kind of feel for the dude when I see him strugglng. Alrght I am def out now

Well, Lance, ya know, sometimes it's the details that cloud up the "big picture." I think I now have a good sense of where Box was comin from, for example, but that was far from clear to me given his original statement (which he himself said may not have embodied the "best choice of words').
 
Who cares where he was coming from? Its not always about making friends or peace with someone else here. I'm not trying to relate to you. Just say my two cents.

Well, mebbe you don't care where he's "coming from." But I was simply responding your statement about trying to understand someone's "message" by "looking for the big picture," which seemed to indicate that you were recommending that you thought understanding was important. Apparently you don't. Mebbe you just like telling people to get their head out of their asses, even if that's where you have yours, eh?
