What's new

Following potential 2013 draftees

Tony Mitchell's stats are pretty much down all the way around this year. he has cut his turnovers basically in half though.

I haven't seen him play yet this year, but I would imagine defenses are really keying on him. He'll need to fight through that and I suspect that he will. I mean, it's not like he's playing for crappy Ben Howland or something.

You are the only one that even mentioned Cal, you big dummy.

Yeah, because your homerism is nauseating. Sorry bro, I just call it as I see it.

I mean, Howland's so terrible that he was able to recruit the aforementioned players (which is interesting because I thought it was obvious to everyone but me that he sucks), make three straight finals fours, and help develop strong NBA talent and players like Kevin Love, Russell Westbrook, Darren Collison, Aaron Afflalo, Luc Mbah a Moute and Jrue Holiday.

I disagree. I'm excited about the era we're in with UK bb, yes. Just as any fan would be. I offer fair analysis of the players, imo. If it's jaded, it's not intentional. I don't think it's homerism as much as it just being in a good place during this stretch.

Anyway, I am serious when I say Howland has definitely had some great success. He has also played a very boring brand of basketball (but who cares, right?). He also has been losing A LOT in recent years, has had a couple really bad team turmoils, and was an inch from being let go last year. How you have connected that to anything UK, I have no idea.

Your nausea is caused by hate, I'm afraid.

Dude, Howland sucks ween, maybe he was decent at Pitt but at UCLA he has sucked. Look at all those players you just mentioned, with all that talent where has he taken UCLA? To the middle of the Pac12, a pretty bad conference?

You obviously missed the part where I said he took them to the Final Four three straight years. That's not pure talent.

That said, I'm not necessarily a Howland fan. He does play a VERY boring brand of basketball as PKM said. But to say he sucks as PKM did is just stupid. It's consistent though with his sentiment that Cal and UK in general run a clean brand of team sports. PKM sees what he wants to see.

I'm right here, ya know.

I googled "Howland UCLA" and the first 6 listed were negative articles asking how long until Howland is finally fired. So I looked up his record the past few years;

2009/10 - 14 and 18 (ouch!)
2010/11 - 23 and 11 (only NCAA tourney appearance)
2011/12 - 19 and 14 (awful)

That's NOT good. Now I'll stop defending how awful Howland has been and leave it for Wes to defend him.

I'm still waiting for you to explain MKG's mom's Bentley and how you actually think he runs a clean program.

PKM, after Cal, who else would you say is great at developing talent?

Also, looking at DX, Deshaun Thomas from Ohio State caught my eye as a second rounder. A 3/4 at 6'7" who's hitting 54%/48% (with 6.3 attempts per game) for 24.0 points, grabbing 7.3 rebounds and dishing for 1.5 assists. His wingspan is an inch and a half longer than Hayward's too. How is he?

Or Pierre Jackson from Baylor? Small but strong stats.

Dewayne Dedmon from USC?

Phil Pressey from Missou?

Michael-Carter Williams (9.3 assists per game) from 'Cuse?

I like that pierre jackson dude from what little i saw of him last year.

I am going to respond to this, but I have company over .. will try to get to it after they leave.

Same with this.

Meh. He's okay, but won't do nothing in the NBA, imo.

Got a guy who's pretty close to the team telling me Marcus Smart is a guy to look out for. This is notable because this guy is rarely wrong on players.

The Shooting of Rondo, the intangibles of Kabongo, and the will to win of Ryan Harrow.

Get off your *** and go get this guy Lindsey.

I can't believe I took your bait, but I did. I have no idea how I can prove a negative by showing you UK doesn't cheat .. so I simply compiled some data. So here are the results of clean/dirty programs. I went back 30 years. The following are the numbers of major NCAA violations resulting in probation and/or tourney bans, by blue-chip school .. and a few others; (everyone would like to take down UK .. so we are way under the microscope .. let's see what they've found)

So, over the past 30 years;

Baylor - 5 years spent on probation; 1 year post-season ban
Louisville - 5 years spent on probation
Wisconsin - 5 years spent on probation
Ohio State - 4 years on probation; 1 year post-season ban
Michigan - 4 years on probation; 1 year post-season ban
UConn - 3 years spent on probation
Kansas - 3 years spent on probation
Indiana - 3 years spent on probation
Utah - 3 years spent on probation
Missouri - 3 years spent on probation
Arizona - 2 years spent on probation
Purdue - 2 years spent on probation
Pittsburgh - 2 years spent on probation
North Carolina - None
Duke - None
UK - None
Michigan State - None

This was actually a bit of work, so please don't just dismiss it with a dumb response.
