OFFICIAL: Trade Deadline Thread

Apparently, the Bobcats are very keen on moving Ben Gordon. If they'd throw in a 1st-round pick with limited protection, I'd entertain this, but it would be better to send Ben Gordon to a 3rd team.

Here's a trade that sends Gordon to Brooklyn, moves Al to Charlotte, and gives the Jazz Humphries along with a Charlotte 1st-rd pick.

Can they even trade a first rounder before they have given Chicago the pick that they owe them?

Notwithstanding that Chicago own their pick*, this is pretty damn good.

*How awesome is Chicago putting and keeping everything together? Without Rose they're still very competitive, and even after losing Brewer, Korver, and Asik. On top of that, I thought they outclassed everyone in the 2011 draft with Butler and Mirotic.

We could trade back one of our first rounders, I think. We could also swap a pick this year for one of theirs next year.

Rockets are out.

Daryl Morey says not to expect any big moves from Houston at the trade deadline this year. cbsprt.co/XPNyjN We're skeptical.

They're definitely not taking on any salary. Dwight Howard sweepstakes.

Look how stupid this guy is. Why the hell would we want to ship Millsap for Bargnani?

I could actually see this happening.... Bargs contract comes up when we need money for favors and Hayward...

It would pretty much guarantee we don't sign Al in the offseason and have a big rotation of Bargs, favors and Kanter!!

Bargs would also keep the paint open for favors and Kanter ala Okur!!

Also Bargs will be a nice expiring contract to shop in two years for a cap strapped team!!

In a weird way this makes sense. Is something wrong with me?

I don't see why on earth we would want Bargnani. He doesn't solve anything. There are better trades than this to be made that make both economical, and personnel sense, I'm sure of it.

Bargnani is hypothetically a good fit along Kanter and Favors. Both Kanter and Favors play defense and rebound exceptionally well. Barg does neither. He does stretch the floor though, ala Memo, and would for the Jazz offense to have excellent spacing.

Uh...Bargs' contract runs through 2015, and new deals for Hayward and Favors will start in 2014. Jazz will likely still have room for another player, but Bargs just isn't any good.

Bargs is an experienced and skilled big who is under contract for two more seasons. By acquiring him now the Jazz fill a roster need before the July FA frenzy that is going to engulf the entire league. They avoid a bidding war, and there is no risk of coming up empty handed or settling for table scraps. How embarrassing would it be if the Jazz don't make a trade and then miss out on Milsap, Al, and whomever else they try to sign? Why risk that PR nightmare?

The Jazz will be busy enough trying to fill 5-6 FA spots, it helps to know what else they need to chase.

This is a safe roll of the dice (like Al was) a skilled big on a short contract, for cheap.

Just looked at his stats though. The guy hasn't shot above 30% from deep since 10-11' season. Ouch. Retracting interest.

Dude check that again... The jazz have to make a qualifying offer on favors and Hayward in 2014/15 and there new deals will start in 2015/16!!!

I can only assume you're trolling me. They will not accept the QO, and will become restricted free agents in the summer of 2014 unless the Jazz extend them in 2013.
