Racism and privilege

Being a race baiter is not integrity.

Agree with the denotation, but the connotation is wrong.

The accusations of "race baiter" are a favorite tactic of people who want to continue to benefit from racial privilege, even if they hold no personal animus. The actual number of people leveraging race for personal gain is far smaller than the number of accusations concerning it.

Having racial privilege and being a racist are two very different things. Accusations of racism can be devastating. Levying such accusations should be done with a degree of caution consistent with the destruction they can cause.

Rarely, accusations of racism can cause damage. Almost always, they are an inconvenience and a nuisance, forgotten in the next news cycle. Meanwhile, persistent privilege continues to ruin lives in multiple, subtle ways.

I can appreciate that both of you, in a position of social privilege, wish to see great caution used regarding words/actions that could upset the social order. Those who have less to use don't see the need to be so cautious.

You don't understand my wishes one single little bit. I don't want to see innocent people hurt, either by racism or by unfounded accusations of racism.

I think you are wrong and you think I am wrong. I think that covers the bases...

I never thought your wishes were otherwise. Wishes are not effects, and intention is not magic.

Thank goodness another white guy has explained to me that the existence of privilege is just a matter of opinion. That really clarifies it for me.

In the moments that correspond to you making this post, you are acting racist.

Does that cover some of your opinion of racism? Were you posting this as an example?

You seem to think you know my wishes...

If you are white you are and if you are not white you are not. Simple.

Accusations of racism are a favorite tactic of the left anytime they do not get their way or blanket agreement of their way. They have this notion that any disapproval or anything short of total support is racism. This line of thinking is disgusting.

Is it racist of me to assert, in no uncertain terms, that One Brow is the trolliest troll currently trolling the board?

I'd like to believe that his motives stem from a desire to see equality, but I do not believe this at all. Not one little tiny bit.

If he were to, just once, try to steer the conversation toward a solution to a problem, rather than just point fingers at everyone (else), I could then find reason to accept that his intentions are good.

But they are not. His intentions are malicious and purposefully disruptive.

That is all I am going to say, and I am not going to visit this thread again. I am uninterested in One Brow's flurry of bull**** and straw man chicanery.

Au revoir, racists!

Don't hang yourself with this line of thinking.

Privilege undoubtedly exists, but I think it's a mistake to do anything more than acknowledging it in a general sense and tackling the issue in a personal sense. The privilege argument is a sloppy one that basically demonizes all white people in a way that is as false as the blanket racism applied by white people against everyone else for hundreds of years in this country.

But it is true. Perhaps I should clarify that it is leftish politicians and new outlets mostly. Distinguish them from the people.

I agree with that.
