That is the consensus of my weekend basketball group. Their opinion generally is it speaks badly of black people the way they are portrayed in Perry's movies. I couldn't say as it would be heavily tainted by my overwhelming white privilege and pre-destination to be an oppressing ueber-racist.

Naturally. Your white privilege means you must treat Spike Lee, Chris Columbus, Steve McQueen, Mario Van Peebles, and Tyler Perry as all being equal as directors, and never saying that one or the other makes better or worse movies. You must treat all black directors as interchangeable. Only then can you not be racist.
