NFL Discussion Thread - 2013

I think Denver's OLine is more due to Payton Manning's ability to work in the pocket, read defenses, and no one gets rid of the ball quicker. Regardless of whether he played for Denver or Indianapolis. He never got sacked much.

That is also true and plays into Denvers favor. The O-Line has been fantastic for Peyton. The speed with which he reads defenses and gets rid of the ball only magnify that. This is a good advantage for Denver.

I am most worried about Wilson getting out of the pocket and making plays with his arm and feet. If he does that I think he can break down the Denver D.

Even if they don't pass to Shermans' man very often that is fine. You still have 3 of Decker, Thomas, Welker and Thomas making big plays. Plus Denver is a league best in yards after catch with 2,751 yards after the catch this season.

All this is true.

I prefer Decker and J. Thomas over any teams #2 and #3 cover guys, except maybe the Seahawks. These will be key matchups. Decker could be a below average #1 wr for a few teams, and Thomas is just a freak.

Sorry

Couple things

1. Seatle is likewise very deep at CB. they have 3 guys other then Sherman that could be #1 or 2's for a lot of other teams

2. They are all big and physical, and will challenge the wr's at the line. Question is, how will the wr's adjust to this kind of defense, and will it cause Manning to hold the ball a little longer. Don't think the Bronco's fans realize how tough a test this will be.

I don't think any Bronco fans are taking this lightly. It's the ****ing super bowl. Just saying that, although this Seahwak defense is #1 in the NFL and the Broncos will have to adjust to playing them, it will also be vice versa. Seattle is playing one of the greatest, if not the greatest offense in history, and so they will have to adjust also. Both teams will be challenged unlike they have been all season long.

Broncos WRs have struggled some against physical backs. I think this couple be an advantage on Seattle's side. I am looking for Julius Thomas and Decker to help compensate. I expect Welker and D. Thomas to take the brunt of the phsyical nature of the D. I also expect Manning to spread the love around as has been the case this season. keep the Seattle D guessing. This could result in him holding the ball a little longer giving Seattle's pass rush time to get to him.

Not since the 1985 bears has a NFL team led the league in points allowed, total yards allowed and turnovers generated, until this year's Seahawks. Manning hasn't played against a top 7 D all year long... Gonna be one of the great superbowls imo. Obviously, GO HAWKS!

Welker is the biggest mismatch against Seattle. I've watched every single seahawks game for the past forever, and their current defense struggles against guys like welker. They struggeled against hilton. But they will shut down J Thomas.

Welker is overrated at this point imo. I wouldn't be too worried about him (watch him go crazy). Manning will find some ways to be successful. I'd be really impressed if the Seahawks could shut down D. Thomas, J. Thomas, and Decker. Those are three big dudes.

Very true. It is a direct strength agaisnt strength. But Seattle has never faced an offense like Denvers either. Denver scored 161 points more than any other team. Leads the league in points scored, total yards, touchdowns, longest FG in history...

It is going to be a great game. I think this is the toughest matchup both teams could have gotten. The exact game I wanted. Perfect. The winner of this game has straight up earned the trophy. First by beating S.F./N.E. then by beating Seattle/Denver.

Go Broncos!

Due to Sherman's post game rant....this has become the most polarized Super Bowl in years! You have the clean cut, nice guys, respect the game and the opponent team in Peyton Manning and the Bronco's.....vs......the big bad, trash talking, drug suspension, thuggery team, the Sea Hawks! No one cares whether or not Sherman graduated from Stanford and does some nice things off the field for charities. He's public enemy No. 1! He looks like a thug, acts like a thug and talks like a thug! (Definition of "thug" in the context of NFL football? 1. a tough and violent man or ruffian!)

Everybody in town knows that Sherman is a tough, violent, ruffian on the football field! He's had 6 (six) personal fouls for "unnecessary roughing", "taunting" or "horse collar" tackles! (Personally, I'd give him a break on horse collar tackles...since I don't think they should be penalties anyway!)

Down the stretch of the 2012 season, cornerbacks Brandon Browner and Richard Sherman were suspended for violations of the NFL’s substance abuse policy. The Browner and Thurmond suspensions are the seventh and eighth for the team in the last three seasons (an NFL high,)!

Now, if you want to root for Sherman and the Sea Hawks on Feb. 2nd, 2014, so be it! Personally, me and most of my cronies (and the majority of the American public) will be pulling for Peyton Manning and the Bronco's!

Sherman appealed his suspension and won... so........ he didn't violate any substance abuse policy. Plus it was adderall... Anyone who has taken addreall knows that it doesn't make you run faster, jump higher, or become stronger. If anything (from experience) it impedes your ability in physical exercise, especially cardiovascular activities. Didn't Von Miller **** up by taking something, and then try to PAY someone to take the blame? Both teams have good guys (Wilson, Manning) and both teams have douches. There is no "good guy" vs "bad guy" unless you really think Wilson is a bad guy. Welker is just as big of a douche as Sherman. GO hawks

You are arguing with Carolina. Please do not take anythign he says as the mind set of Broncos fans. Most fans I have seen are realistic about the other team. This will be a great game and it could go either way.

When did he become overrated??

.....Sherman might have beat that rap....but no one ACTUALLY believes he's clean...not after last Sunday's rant! The guy HAD to be on something! IF you don't think this is going to play out as a "good guy vs. bad guy" Super Bowl, you've got your head in the sand! By the way, I like Wilson! Seems like a nice clean cut well spoken young man! Respects the game and his opponents...just like Welker does....who is a consummate pro, unlike your boy Sherman!

This is the first time in NFL history that the team that averaged the most points and most yardage faced the team that gave up the fewest points and least yardage on average played each other in the Superbowl. Hostorically great D teams that have fared better than great O teams in superbowl matchups.

A glaring exception was when the 49ers (great O team) beat Denver (great D team) 55-10 some years ago.

the difference was that Denver team got beat by the greatest qb and wr to play the game along with the greatest offense ever devised. Lol

Denvers records this year say other wise. Also the arguement is starting to be made (ESPN just released an article) that Manning is the greatest QB of all time. I'm not making that argument. Just using it to state that Denver has a very legitimate chance of also being an exception.

Also notice I used the word exception.
