My guess.
He thinks burks is finally coming around and looking like an nba player. Dala probably thinks that burks ceiling is a solid starter in the nba. he probably thinks its laughable that burks will ever become one of the best at his position.

BTW i think that would be a fair opinion of burks, though i believe that he has a chance to be a multiple time all star. Not extremely likely cause those types of players are rare and usually you know about them in thier first two years, but i do think that burks talents have been underutilized his first two years so he might be the exception

Hahaha. Well, I'm sure 99% of the posters who read my playoff thread (along with the posts I made in it) would quickly realize that it's a joke-- and I offered zero support behind my claims other than "We're making the playoffs just because!!.

But of-course, 99% of posters aren't hell-bent on trying to prove me wrong, or trying to discredit my basketball-evaluation skills-- because it's a forum, and who really gives a ****.

If it helps you sleep at night that I once made a prediction on Jazzfanz that turned out to be incorrect, then I'll give you an actual one: I once posted here saying that I liked Chris Singleton at the time of the draft more than Kawhi Leonard.

I'm much, much more cautious with Burks than most here.

I like that he's improved his playmaking, his free-throw shooting, and his three-point shooting. He is a great finisher, and has good potential in this league as a scorer.


Personally, when I'm paying my guard big-money, I want a guard who makes the play of others better on top of being a good offensive weapon himself. I want a guard who, when he doesn't have his shot going, is able to contribute in other ways, and stay on the court. A lot of these things are relatively unanswerable for Burks, because his role has changed so much, and this is probably the first season that he's really had a prominent offensive role with this team.

Defensively, Burks has never stood out to me (admittedly, I haven't watched as many games this season as in years past).



Either way, I like Hayward as a player more than Burks, and if I had to choose between the two then I go with Hayward. Of course, if Hayward is asking for the max, and we can lock up Burks for a 4 year/32 million dollar contract, then obviously you consider moving on with Burks-- but I just like what Hayward might bring to the table for the future of this core, if we can draft a 1st-option-on-offense wing to pair with Hayward, Favors, and Burke.


Burks has been an awesome surprise this season, and Kanter (other than last night) has been by-and-large a disappointment.

If Josh Howard and Mo Williams once made the ASG, it isn't impossible for Burks to make it. But it's hard for me to imagine that Burks will ever be the best player, and 1st option on a team with a top 20 offense. The key, of course, is him rounding out his offensive-game outside of his scoring ability. That's what separates a Nick Young from a James Harden (other than the super-efficient scoring-- which arguably could come with playing alongside such tremendous talent).

Joe Johnson made the All-Star game this year, so yeah, it's possible. He would have to be in a bad conference and put up around 20 ppg.

Also I believe I was the only one in a thread about which of the core 4 would be the first all-star to pick burks!!
 
I was thumbing through that magazine that I posted about Exum not being on the cover of and there is a sweet article on Burks being the Jazz breakout player this year. I can't wait to see him go get that money!!!!
