What's The Last Movie You’ve Seen?

I will attempt to watch Mud in the next few days, and I'll let you know if I change my mind.

I am a very big MM fan, maybe my expectations were to high on Mud though. It was good, quite good actually, but a 99% on RT should be amazing imo. So I guess I thought it was a bit over rated.

I think Mud was over-rated, then again I don't put a ton of stock in aggregate websites, or reviewers in general. Too many of them pander to the hollywood elite to continue to get invited to the right parties, and still others are too concerned about impressing the intelligentsia that they can see the underlying brilliance in 120 minutes of pretentious crap. I have found a few reviewers that tend to have views of movies similar to my tastes and will on occasion check their reviews before going to see a movie, otherwise I simply go see what interests me, and sometimes I am pleasantly surprised and other times I end up watching a crappy movie, or even walking out.

Before his passing, I was usually in tune with Mr. Ebert. It was almost like we shared a brain. That said, I've found I am more in line with rotten tomatos than I am IMDB.

Really? Rottentomatoes is pretty good, tbh. A lot of the big blockbuster "hollywood" films receive lower than 40% approval rating... so I wouldn't say they kowtow to the Hollywood elite by any stretch of the imagination.

Ya, i feel rotten tomatoes is usually prettt good to judge movies off.

Mud was not a blockbuster type movie btw..... at least i dont think it was, as i never saw a preview for it

I'm with vinyl. I was pretty inline with Ebert and now I find rotten tomatoes is usually pretty accurate as far as my preferences go.

Either way, I just watched the movie Faust. Anybody else seen it? Russian film but in German. I haven't really had time to digest it yet, but it is certainly an odd piece of work. Fairly good, but incredibly dense. Don't really know anyone I'd recommend it to

Finally watched Spring Breakers last night. One of the weirdest movies I have ever seen. It wasn't bad, it wasn't good, I was entertained, but I didn't really enjoy it. Just a very odd movie from beginning to end.

Yuppers.

I watched The Grey over the weekend. Garbage for the most part.

Was forced into watching the Amazing Spiderman 2 with this chick I'm seeing.. I really liked Jake Gyllanhal version in parts 1-3, didn't like it when they changed the actor with the 4th, but now with the 5th it was actually surprising good production value. Really good value for money in terms of computer graphics, etc. Storyline was a bit crap really, but there were some pretty scary moments with "Electro".

It is a bit of an exercise in computer graphics overload for me, but it's one of those movies that you can just sit back and enjoy the "spectacle" rather than worrying too much about anything else. I watched it in Bangkok for 120bath, or US$3.68 so I honestly can't complain.

Slumdog Millionaire. Forgot how good that movie is. Might have to let it join the small amount of movies I've thought worth buying.

It was ok.. I mean there's certainly nothing wrong with it.. there just weren't a lot of genuine moments in it that's all.

If you like slumdog may be also consider Magnificent Marrigold Hotel... has a lot more heart imo...
