The problem the Jazz have had for a LONG time is too many one-dimensional players (Boozer, Memo, AK, Brewer, Kanter, Favors). It's one of the reasons I'd be scared to death of taking Parker. To me, there is a clear top-3 in this draft: Embiid, Wiggins and Vonleh. Those are the three players most likely to be impact players on both ends of the court. Parker is going to be Carmelo without the attitude. Exum, Gordon and Smart have questionable shots. Gordon would be my second choice at #5, though. He's at least a great player defensively and would bring some fire.

I somehow envisioned today looking at the draft slots that Sacramento might make some weird move like drafting Zach LaVine simply because they can. And then the next scary thing is that this little kid could use his 1% chance to become great next to Boogie and Rudy Gay.

There was no way Bennett should have gone before Oladipo or Alex Len IMO. You never know what these teams see. Especially when most teams draft trying to project a prospect into the future.

As long as LaVine shoots the ball well from 3 hes going to be just fine and teams will regret passing on him.

i agree completely 2 way players are worth their weight in gold.
 
i like the idea of drafting smart and trading burke but not in love with it.

I like the idea of drafting Vonleh and trading kanter for a SF. maybe an SnT for Parsons

i like the idea of moving up to get parker but we would need another big that can play solid defense. kanter and parker on the floor at the same time is not good

i like gordon and i think his offense will get better.

i am still a huge early fan and hope he is there at 23

Why in the hell are we letting Hayward walk to sign Parsons, who is an inferior player in most area's of the game?!?!?!

hes a more natural SF, a better floor spacer, more confident shooter and has a history of buzzer beaters and big shots. Haywards versatility is nice but the Jazz have guards who can facilitate just fine.

If Hayward shoots like **** from 3 again next season, hes going to be overpaid.

Parsons instead Hayward could make this team look alot different imo. it puts more of a burden on Trey and Alec but i think they can handle it

Right now, no. But long-term I think Vonleh is more likely to be an impact player on BOTH ends of the court. Parker is going to be a scorer. But I see him cut from the same mold as guys like Carmelo, Boozer, AI, etc. They'll give you 20+ but yield that many on the defensive end. And you simply can't have zero or minimal net production from someone who is going to get MAX dollars when their contract is up. I'd rather have a player like Vonleh develop into a 16/10 player who is giving up 12/7 to his counterpart.

Yes, why not both?
Jazz have up to a MAX contract slot available even AFTER signing Hayward to a sizable deal. Jazz need three wings.

SF - Chandler (32); Hayward (16)
SG - Hayward (16); Burks (32)

Don't really care who starts, although I love having Burks off the bench, especially with a backup PG since Alec can also handle the ball.
Bottom line is Jazz need to replace RJ's minutes. Do they re-sign Marvin or go after someone like Parsons? And if Houston matches, that's ok. The fallback could still be Marvin.

Look out, here comes Marcus Smart. After getting picked apart for much of the season by scouts, the love affair for Smart seems to be growing once again. NBA GMs who grumbled about him all season are warming up. His size and strength at point guard, plus his motor and leadership on the court all are so appealing. Plus, his workout was terrific. He shot the ball very well and, like Parker, went hard on every set. I think he's in the mix at No. 4 to the Magic (especially if Exum is off the board) and appears to be getting looks from the Celtics at No. 6 and the Lakers at No. 7. It's hard to believe he slides past the Kings at No. 8.

i think Ford has said that he never thought Utah was all that high on Smart, last year too

Great news though, Smart to Orlando at 4 greatly increases the Jazz chances of ripping someone off trading #5

Just means Exum would be in the mix at #5. Last interview I heard from Lindsey (yesterday on ESPN), the reporter made the comment the draft had a clear drop at 4 picks. Lindsey corrected him and said three. I don't think Exum is viewed as highly by GM's as what the media has hyped.
